Default Pop up, slide in or peel back on sales page

Hi

I want to deliver a valuable freebie from a sales page ( I have never tried it before) and I was wondering whether it would be best offered from a pop up, slide in or peel back.

I obviously do not want to plonk a sign up form right in the middle id my sales page.

Also, can anyone point me in the right direction for a [good] deal on any of these?

Looking forward to your answers . . .

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The only way to find out for sure which of these is going to be the most beneficial is to run a basic split test until you find the winner. You can do this for free using Google's website optimizer, and it's actually free too.

As far as a good deal on some kind of popup generator etc, I'm one of the other warriors can chime in with a good deal...

Hope that's useful

Hi - I hadn't heard about that tool before. Doing a quick search on Yahoo , I found it here: https://www.google.com/analytics/siteopt/splash?hl=en

I'm going to have to check this out.

Thanks much for the thread.

Regards,
Bal

Put the optin box in your body copy and also add the popup...
It's proven to increase optins...

Personally, unless I really, really need to use a particular site, I immediately close out Web pages that have a pop-up or slide-in window. Peel back would probably convert less, but for a user like me, your pop-up or slide-in would annoy us sufficiently that you'd never get anything from us.

Here's a really cool, unobtrusive script, InstantSlideUp:

Instant SlideUp

And a nice looking implementation on a site many are surely familiar with (or should be):
