What Makes a Good Affiliate Program/Why Would You Want to Promote a Product?

Hi Everyone,

I have been doing some research for a while on this topic when it suddenly dawned on me that this forum is full of my target market so why not throw it out here...

I primarily work in the offline market and as such do not have a huge list in the IM niche- what I do have right now though is a killer product.

I saw a hole in the market and decided to go about filling the gap- my solution to the no list part? Well at this stage, I am thinking affiliates...

The product is quality and will sell for $497 or thereabouts- I will as such need to attract some experienced affiliates. What I need to know is what do I need to include in my affiliate program in order to acheive this?

Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated - I really would like to get this part right before launching it...

Thanks in advance,

Rhiannon

As someone who's a bit in your shoes...here's what my "big affiliate" friends have mentioned.

    1. Stats on visitor value, conversion rates, and sales funnel data

    2. High commission rates attract small-medium affiliates who can be your bread and butter and are much easier to get (I'd think that it'd be easier to get 2-3 affiliates with 10k lists than 1 with a 30...although that's just pure speculation on my part)

    3. Lots of ways to promote

emails, logos to embed on pages, text link ads, blog/article posts, also be open for interviews/webinars

Basically you have to treat your affiliates like gold...there are a million products to promote so always split test stuff to see what works, what doesn't, b/c eventually you will get to a point where your product will get around as one that converts.

Something I personally like as an affiliate is to have a nice 2nd tier program...always nice to have an extra income off other people's work

    Cheers,

    Brad

      Thanks Brad.

The conversion stats etc may be tough at first as is a brand new product but I guess all the other stuff can be included..

I have heard someone mention that offering a second tier can just mean that all people do is refer affiliates rather than customers... Do you think this likely?
