Stick to what you know or go for it?

I generally hang out on forums and occasionally moderate/admin them, I have been doing this for a long time...

I have recognised a niche that is fairly nice yet I have no experience at all in it, it is akin to me as a chicken farmer tlking about rocket science...

Though I do know some people who might be able to help out and write the occasional article here and there and answer questions on a forum that I would run...

My question is, should I keep well away if I dont have a clue on that side of things or go for it, knowing I am good at forums and will eventually attract other well knowledgable people?

I am thinking for a starter website it will cost £100-150 or so for the year, with a basic template and domain name and hosting a simple forum to start, so it isnt that much if it is possible to make a return...and if not it will not break the bank anyways and I could sell it to someone for the price I paid...

More important than how familiar you are with the niche is how profitable it is.

Check out my video here and determine if your niche is profitable: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...gry-niche.html

If both the one you are familiar with and the new one are profitable - I would stick with the one you are familiar with.

If only the new one is profitable - then start learning about it

Have no regrets. Move forward and Learn. That's how we all do it. And we get better with time. So, I encourage you to do it. And as Clive says, TODAY. Good luck mate.

It really comes down to if you can make a good return on your investment. If it's a niche where people spend no $ then it's not worth it. But it sounds like you think it can be profitable so go for it!

No way to give you specific advice but I will say that you always have to try new things when it comes to IM.

    Sparhawke,

It looks like you want some fun so why worry about the knee jerk 'will it make money?' - Forget that - Will it be fun is more important.

    You don't like fun?

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more

    Thanks guys

It is not that I think it will be profitable or not..if everyone thought like that there would no room for me! lol

I am just extremely experienced in forums having been around them for a long time so can run them for the more knowledgable people in my niche in the background and let them get on with knowing what they are talking about..in fact if you google my username : "sparhawke" you will see how famous I am within them, being an official ambassador for one of the biggest computer companies in the world... people have even started copying my name...

I can run forums with no problem, I am just wondering if anyone has had any success with this rather than being on the front end of a website?

Btw, to me £150 is not that much for the learning experience if what I learn helps me make £1500 later lol
