Optin Page Vs Sales Page for main url

Hi Fellow Warriors,

I have been trying to get started on IM. I do have some questions which I hope some of you can help me along with.

(1) Should I put the Optin Page in the main URL or the Sales Page in the main url?
ie, www(dot)abc.com ==> optin page or sales page?

(2) Or should I put content into the main url with an optin box somewhere at the side or middle of the content?

Thanks.

Terence

    Hey Terence

    You have a few options:
    1. Have the opt in page as your homepage.
    2. Have the sales page as the homepage.
    3. Have the sales page, with big heading in the middle column and your opt in in your right hand column.
    4. Have the sales page as the homepage, with your opt in as a pop up.
Spend a month with each option, and see from your site stats which one works the best, and use that one. Then get different methods and compare them again.
You will always have to test what's the best for you.
Use Google Analytics | Official Website for that.

Remember that whichever method you use, it must be "above the fold" - people shouldn't have to scroll down to get to your opt in or sales pages.

Ok, here's the question you must answer...

What is the single most wanted response you want from your visitor?

If you're building your list, then I'd go opt-in.

If you're looking for a direct sale, then sales page.

Other factors include what typeof product and where are you promoting it.

EG: Clickbank? have a pop over because affiliates shy away from sending leands to an opt in page.

Also, depending on your product, visitors may not buy first up, so a 2 step approcah may work better in the long run.

For me.. it has to be opt in pages... build list etc. Unless it is a speacial page for jv partners.

I hope this helps, and good luck.

    Hey Terence,

If you've got a great report to give away (or similar) and an autoresponder series behind that opt-in I'd say put that up as the first page they hit.

Building your list (and selling them on your product through constant contact) will usually make you more money overall if done correctly.

Don't forget to test as Adriaan said though.

    Good Luck,
    Chris
