Of the legit ones I know of, Domainsite.

I'd recommend Name.com though. They are the best I've ever used.

I use two, namecheap.com and godaddy.com. I found namecheap is cheaper so is my first choice.

netfirms is the cheapest I have seen, 7.99 per. Its a very clean site, unlike what godaddy throws up when you want to get a new domain.

1and1.com gives you free private registration, which normally costs almost ten dollars extra elsewhere (unless you buy domains in bulk, in which case most registrars throw it in for free).

          Hi nmh

namecheap will give you free whois option which is pretty useful to take advantage of - other sites charge $8 + for that + if you use their monthly coupon you get a further 10% off

Godaddy is also cheap. If you buy, I think 5 or more domains you also get free whois guard.

I often use godaddy for .infos at 99c and buy 5 at a time to get free whoisguard for 'little' projects the odd time so it really depends what you want as well

I use name and namecheap. I bought my first site from godaddy and kept on getting really annoying sales calls from them.

I would have to agree with Tom on that one.

Name cheap is by far the cheapest.

Godaddy is good to if you can put up with the annoying sales emails and phone calls

Godaddy has become very tricky in the years and by far has a lot of products they push, so i stay away just for the fact that there is nothing i would ever buy from them accept a domain name.

If i buy a domain name from them i just create a different email so my main email doesnt get bombarded with their sales pitches

            Hope this helps

WOW thanks everyone! I was using GoDaddy but figured there was something else out there. They can't compare to Hostgator for hosting though.

      Hey Nmh

I would have to agree with you.

Host gator is by far the best hosting out there.

I use Hostgator for everything and they are very reasonable.

I use the Baby Croc and it supplies me with all my needs.

For 9.95 a month and you can transfer unlimited domains.

      Its a great deal

All mine .... a bunch of 'em (yes I have an addiction) ... are with godaddy right now.

But, I had heard Mike Filsaime mention some time recently that godaddy can hose you in a launch if they get ANY complaints -- totally shut the domain down. So, that's a consideration.

I've been looking for a place to "move" my business -- seems I end up paying about $10 bucks at godaddy -- and have seen elsewhere for $6-$8. With my number of domains, that adds up to some pretty good savings.

I do like their autorenewal function -- anyone know if other "good" registrars provide that?

Godaddy is far too expensive on renewals, especially with their whois protection. Their customer service sucks, and I've had a ton of problems with them.

    I use namecheap.

I use Godaddy and Namecheap, but am using Namecheap a lot more due to being on dialup in the country and Godaddy being so slow. Namecheap is much faster and I just search for their monthly coupon when I buy a domain and get about a buck off.

Like most people on here I use Godaddy, but Ive never once had any aftersales, by phone or email, no hassle whatsoever from them.

I have used name cheap, but Im used to godaddy, so just seem to stick with them.
