Question on Keywords

I have a newbie question.

When you type keywords for a blogger post, are these actually picked up by google so that the post appears in search engines for these words, or do they need to be in the article. Also is there a way to ping each blogger post or is this unnecessary.

    Your keywords need to be in your article, well woven and scattered around your write up BUT not excessively. Google hates that apparently.
    Most importantly, keywords must be in your title, preferrably the first few words.

    I dont bother to ping because i am more concerned about getting my articles on Page1 of google by writing good quality content in a narrowed down niche.
