First sales but problems with google.

Hi guys. I have made already 3 sales this month. Nothing huge, total profit a little more than 2$, but they make you motivated. Yeah, that's cool, but i have no idea how i get targeted traffic.

In google for general keyword i rank ~270 place, and have there been for about month already and no matter how hard i try nothing works for me, although this niche is not too overcrowded and top 10 sites in google count's as "weak".

But still, in this month i am finally starting to make some sales (awesome feeling), and they make me motivate. But when i remember that i rank at google awfully, my motivation disappears. Still, i have this feeling - i will never give up on this. But, it makes me very sad that with all my hard work i can't get good ranking with google. Maybe i am still newbie and must practice?

So how can i find out from where i am getting targeted traffic? Maybe someone can show me few good threads about building backlinks? I think i must try to learn everything from beginning, there must be something i missed!

I am thinking that i won't rank high for google because my website is still very young (1 month and few days). Could this be the reason? What would you do if you would me? Try to learn everything from beginning or stick to my methods, as i see first results already?

    HI Lett, what's the product? I see you are having too much focus on Google ranking. You can try another strategy, like forum posting. I got 4 sales of my internet marketing product by doing this in a month.

      Writing articles works well. There are going to be people jumping on me for this but, I mean good articles of 500+ words that have some real value. Just like when you were in high school and had to write a report, a rehash of the same old thing taken from the encyclopedia isn't going to cut it.

      One or two well written articles a day submitted to ten of the top article directories with a resource box pointing back to your website or attached blog will increase your backlinks, pull traffic from people that read your articles and want to learn more about what you have to say and thus move your site up in ranking with google.

      Give it some time. Yes, your site is still very young. Add content to your site on a regular basis whether that be pages or posts to your blog and the search engines will reflect the quality of your site. Focus on that...providing quality and you'll rise to the top. Time is a big factor too. Don't worry or get frustrated if your site rises and falls a bit over the first year. Personally though, I think it's better to rise to the top slowly with good quality than go out there and submit a ton of rubbish articles a day to get backlinks, get all this traffic and then find your site sandboxed or delisted overnight while you run around like a chicken with it's head cut off wondering what to do.

      Just my two cents and although I'm not making 100K a year (yet) nor am I any sort of guru this is what has worked for me and what makes sense.

    Best way to get back links when you first start out is writing articles or posting informative comments on blogs similar to your niche make sure they are not using a no follow tag because your comments won,t count.

    The product that you are selling must be closely related to the keyword that you are trying to rate high in SERPS.. Try buildind using different types of back links. Use profile back linking, forum posting, article submission with your keyword in it, RSS submission.. etc. etc.. There are many ways to do this.. After you've exhausted these, rinse and repeat.. Your keyword will rank high before you know it unless the keyword your competing with is in a very competitive niche..
