IM Amazon technique..what do you think about this?

Fellow Warriors,

Please give your opinion on the following:

I am extending my marketing plan towards Amazon. That is, I will be writing books in order to help my site convert traffic. Here's the problem...

I have outlined about 8 lengthy (approx.250 pgs) books. I can divide the content of each book into probably 60-80 mini '101 ways how to..' books.

The longer books will definitely help my credibility (I need this in my niche and for my website) as it will improve my media exposure, but, 60-80 books might bring in more money as they cover more categories. They will definitely give me more exposure online, but not for media publicity. Both types of books, I guess, will help my website convert traffic (i.e. I plan on having my website domain name on every cover).

Which choice do you think will help bring more traffic, and, ultimately, more conversion to my website?

Thanks

I doubt if you can tell for sure which will work best, without testing. Why not write one full length eBook, and one split up into chunks, and see which works best.

Write and publish QUALITY work. Quality trumps quantity. Remember that.

    Hi,
    Couldn't you offer several options?
If you offer the 8 books at say $25.00 per book = $200.00
If you split into 80 chunks at say $3.00 per chunk = $240.00
Offer all 8 as a super package at say $160.00

Explain the benefits of each option, while offering quality and a package that suits every kind of marketer.
Tracking of each sale will show what packages are converting the best.

I don't know if the books are so related to implement this strategy but you never know....some buyers are tempted by good deals and special offers.

    Good luck

      I agree with Reinhardt.

8 QUALITY books is still amazing. Sure, 80 books will cover more ground, but 8 is still excellent.

Besides, how many books do you think that average person publishes in their lifetime? With 8 books, you are WAAAAY above the average. Trust me.

If you're working in a nice that has good, or especially good OLD public domain material available write a great introduction or analysis and sell that as a physical book.

It should help you with positioning on some level.

If you add value to something that is perceived as classic or timeless already and you sort of "co-brand" yourself with that, it will help with authority a lot I think.

I saw a post from Frank Kern a month or so ago saying he is doing a free seminar or something on "Scientific Marketing" or one of those old books. Same thing I would guess.

If you don't really bring value I think it will flop and maybe backfire, but if you feel confident about your abilities, I'd try that.

75-90% of the content is already created, and if you stake another 25% of REALLY valuable analysis or commentary . . . Well I would run something like that as a loss leader.

Or at least at break even, and go for heavy distribution and personal branding over immediate short term gains.

    Great input! Thanks everyone.

RGallowitz: How true. It makes more sense to hear it from someone else.
David: Great idea but I don't think I'd have the time to do that.
ZahoAnXin: There isn't much PD content in my niche. I fully agree with your statement:

"go for heavy distribution and personal branding over immediate short term gains"

    Much appreciated
