For someone like me who is compleatly new to this and have no start up money please help me with my first (baby) steps. I know there are things I have to know and things I will have to figure out on my own but, after reading through this forum for about a month straight I am still a little ???. Just a couple of fingers pointing is the right direction would be a blessing.

thank you

Bnard, I would suggest learning the basics before doing anything else.

Here is my suggestion to you:

    1. Learn how to set up niche blogs using wordpress
    2. Learn basic SEO so you can apply it to your site.
    3. Practice picking keywords that you know you can rank for on Google, as search traffic is quite important for any site.

Just read read and read some more. When your just getting into IM it can be quite overwhelming at first with so much to learn and take in.

My biggest tips would be not to spend your money too much at the beginning, but instead ask for advice from people here on the WarriorForum if you are unsure.

Bnard, Article Marketing is a good way to get started in IM. It will allow you to build a nice skill set. You will learn keyword research, content creation, SEO, niche site creation and more. These skills are necessary no matter how you try to make money online.

Here is a good thread to get some tips from:

It is absolutely impossible to give you any direction that will make any
sense to you because there are almost infinite number of ways to make
      money online.

What do you want to do?

      Sell affiliate products?
      Sell your own products?
      Freelance?
      Create a membership site?
      Telecommute?
      GPT?
      CPA?

What kind of money do you have for promotion if you want to sell stuff?

If not and you want to freelance, what skills do you have?

If you want to work an online job (they do exist) what skills do you have
      for that?

Ultimately, what's going to happen is people are going to start tossing
out suggestions in this thread (most likely encompassing the things I've
mentioned above as well as other things) with a few step by steps to
follow that are going to leave you more confused than when you
      started.

      Why?

Because you need a business plan.

You need to sit down and decide what it is you want to do.

Above I gave some general possibilities (not suggestions) because I can't
make suggestions without knowing more about your financial situation
and what kind of knowledge you have to start with.

For example, somebody might suggest affiliate marketing using PPC. But
if you're flat broke that's not an option.

Conversely, if somebody suggests article marketing and you can't write
your way out of a paper bag, you are going to end up frustrated and
      discouraged.

Now do you understand why, in all good conscience, I can't make any
      recommendations?

If you can swing it, get yourself a proven mentor and have him or her
work on a business plan for you based on your skills and financial
      situation.

Otherwise, you are most likely going to end up wasting a lot of time
      because of no real direction.

Take this advice for what it's worth to you.

Another good thing to do to learn the basics (and if you really put in some effort, also the "not so basic" stuff) go to google and type in "make real money on the internet" and "stephen pierce". He also has a $19.95 book that he is giving away for S&H.

A membership for a couple of months to that site gets you through the basics. I was a member for a while and the training is great.

Take a little more time, like a year or so here on the forum and just build you a blog and start learning what to do with that, then build another blog and keep tying them together, but don't go spending a lot of money on all the training junk that is out there, as most of it tells you the same thing over and over, with maybe an extra bit or two in each program and don't pay some high paid Guru or supposed guru who promises the moon. Truth is, you will learn more here on this forum than just about anywhere else on the net, just keep reading and taking in what you are being told, but most of all it depends on what you are going to be using the internet for, just like one of the post above mentioned to you.

So first you have to zero in on what it is you really want to use the net for and then start rolling with it using all the FREE stuff first, especially the FREE wordpress sites, etc.

And good luck, as no matter what you are going to be doing you will need it. From a nearly 20 year internet veteran, there is so much to learn, you may never stop learning and I can attest to that for sure!!!

If you can learn how to do keyword research then you can use free services to create content. You do not need to have any money to make money.

There are many members on this forum who will tell you so.

Just learn as much as you can and absorb this free information that you dont have to pay for.

also my advice would be to not try to learn everything at one time(theres so much out there)......pick one skill at time...learn it and become a master at it then move on to the next....."a jack of many is a master of none!"...Hope this helps...God Bless

This is good advice billiebjosey, and I agree 100%. With internet marketing it can be hard to sit down and focus on just one thing in particular with some many different options to choose from. Stick with one thing and build it up, put all your effort into it this one thing and eventually you will be rewarded.

        Hi Bnard.
        Welcome to the forum

What are you passionate about? what do you enjoy doing or have knowledge in? that is a good place to start. do not spend any money until you know exactly what you want to do . once you figure that out. go to google and research other people doing the same thing get a feel for what the current market standard is i.e. what is selling in that area and how is it selling. then you hop over to google check out the keywords for your area and find the ones with the highest local and global searches per month.
develop a strategy what kind of things are you going to do with this area you have chosen are you going to market affiliate products, are you going to create a product, are you going to review products or write about them in a blog. you have to do something you will be able to focus on and buckle down with it. then go and find some training guides to help you get going first you need a foundation. you can't build a house without one

thank you everyone for the info. I do know what I want to do and I have some ideas. But, when your new its scary to take steps forward without thinking you may of left money on the table. I am thinking of clickbank products to promote in a niche that I am quite knowledgable about. But I will keep reading (studying) until I cant take it any longer and put a plan into action. I have started a blogger blog just to get my feet wet but, Squidoo looks promising too. The possible I can do the impossible just takes longer.

    thank you

It aint no Scam gautam42... I am the owner of that web site and there are no obligation whatsoever to follow my 8 Step Training guide. I teach for free because I like teaching quite simply. Aren't you passionate about some things too? I made quite a few buddies in the last few years and few of them ever failed from my teachings. Traffic Exchanges are free to join and so is SFI which I am a Presidents Club member.

In short, I became very successful but it wasn't overnight. I trialed and errored since 1997 when I got the Internet hooked up here, and been studying Marketing since 1986. I consider myself a Guru, and it just so happens that I earn a great income now, and you know what? I Deserve It!

I don't care what people think of my System, but if teaching for free is a crime, than you should shut down all the schools in the world!

Sure there is eventually an investment which is optional!! You don't have to invest in anything anywhere online! In fact, if you plan on never investing in your business, then your chances of success will be a Big Fat ZERO! Smart people know that.

Wow Johnny D. you are right on the money "excited, confused and anxious" the thing is that I wish to learn as much as I can first. Then get started. Yes I know I will have to take action soon but I have to feel comfortable first with all tthat I have learned.

Zahra I know I could do tasks for other IMers but its seems a bit like donkey work though I know I would be gaining expirience I rather put all the pieces in order to be my own donkey. I know this sounds selfish. I could be wrong in assuming this.

I would like to hear everybody's thoughts on another post I have read.
how 16 year old sets up complete affiliate marketing

I know it would take me alot longer than that but I found this very motivating.

I would recommend that while you're setting up your Internet Marketing business, you freelance at the same time on a site like elance.com.

Go get paid to write articles and you'll quickly see what is required of you by other IM'ers. Use what you learn freelancing to strengthen your own IM position.

This way you're still getting some cash flow freelancing until your IM cash flow picks up.

    Hope this helps,

I think Steven hit the nail on the head. You gotta know what direction you want to go in before taking your first steps. Otherwise, you're gonna find yourself spinning your wheels.

You said you though about promoting a Clickbank product in a niche you really know something about. YES! That's a better start than I had. I was all over the place, spent a lot of money I really didn't have, and it took me a long time to get a grasp on what I wanted to do.

After trying about everything under the sun, you wanna know what I ended up succeeding with the most? Doing like you're saying. Promoting a clickbank product (and a good physical product) that I know quite a bit about, felt comfortable promoting, and stuck it out.

Now just decide how you're going to market the product. I recommend trying one technique at a time and finding your sweet spot that you feel like you really got a handle on things and can whip out GOOD content quickly. Fail fast to find what works. For me... I find that I get nervous & uncomfortable writing too much, but really enjoy video. So a lot of my marketing is through video, and only within the last year or so did I really start adding more methods.

Figure out your direction/niche, decide on your marketing method, find a mentor or program to lead you along, and then leave this forum and stick it out until you feel you have a handle on things and are seeing results.

Come back to the forum and ask for help only when you're truly stuck. This kind of hands-on, in-the-trenches kind of work seems to produce results. Also, with all the info floating around... it's REAL easy to fall into $hiny object syndrome if you're not careful.

  • I Know this sounds like a very heavy promise and kinda spammy but in all seriousness go opt in to this squeeze page and watch the free video
The Easy Cash Webinar the link can be found in my signature (dnt have 15 posts yet)

I'll even say dont buy the sale at the end of the video. JUST WATCH THE VIDEO

I literally paid a marketer/guru $1297 to learn what is taught in this video for FREE.

    What it teaches

    To summerize it:

All the techniques on the web wont mean anything if you don't learn to master what is taught in this video!

Inside it talks about how to take all the knowlege you have accumulated and create a plan that you will actually follow and achive all your goals. it also gives you tips on how to boost your productivity when you are actually working on tasks like writting articles to drive traffic and email marketing and blogging etc. But again if you dont know how to manage your time like the gurus do what could have been accomplished in a month takes the average marketer a year or worse

It also talks about the list building buisness model and how the money is in the list ways to drive traffic and build a name for yourself online and more.

I Promise This is a must see for not just the newbie marketer but even the most season veterans. If Im lying call me out on this thread and Ill owe you one!

Once you have this down the rest is easy
