Newbee getting ready to write first short report

Hey everyone

My name is Henrik. The last few years I have seen my father run his internet business successfully here in Denmark (he is a programmer and have created an invoicing software for small and home businesses) just this year alone he have sold over 400 copies of the software.

His success have made me want to start a business online, and being a student time is sometimes very easy to come by, so I figured why not try. Not being able to program I have red through this forum and stumbled across a guide made by James Penn (Short report profits) which seems well written and to the point. I have therefore decided to try and make one of these short reports, and a sales page just to get a feel for things before venturing further.

Using his methods I have identified two niche markets that could be interesting to research further.

The following are the topics I have considered
1. How to treat scalp psoriasis using natural remidies
2. Making and selling luxury soap in bulk quantities

I have done a bit of initial research on the subjects

1. Keyword: Scalp psoriasis
google searches per month: 33100
Google hits:192000
I have not found any specific report on this, though a general e-book on treating psoriasis is available

2. Keyword: Soap business
google searches per month: 3600
Google hits:15700000 Here I can find tons and tons of both free information, and e-books. the e-books are very broad though and easily get up to 70 pages and cost around $40

What Im looking to do is to research one of the subjects further and then write a 7-10 page short report on the subject, getting very specific and to the point.

Based on the information I have given you here, can you tell me if it would be worth my time writing and publishing either one of these reports?

Based on this thread, would you tell me if I master the english language sufficiently to be able to avoid ridicule after publishing?

I hope to get to know a lot of you smart ppl on this site.

Sincerely Henrik

I think it's not very worthy for you to do that for you may be not professional in both of these two areas.I mean, what you write may not be accepted by others.Even some guys read it,they may not be convinced easily.Last but not the least, how can you develop your business by these two reports?

        Hey Sam

Thanks for your post, very quick response im impressed

Naturally I haven't thought of this as anything other than a test run in order to get a bit of experience, and to (as you put it) take action. I probably wont see a steady income on this or these reports alone but that does not matter much to me, if I can make just one buck off them its a success in my mind

And as to Steves post. Naturally Im no expert in either subject, but working at university here in Denmark where there is no such thing as multiple choice tests, and you more or less have to create new knowledge from day one I am quite used to researching and writing about subjects I have no prior knowledge of what so ever

    Henrik,

There is no quick answer available for you.

It sounds like you have done some basic research which is good.

You need to read more on the forum here as there are many good threads about this kind of thing.

Amongst other things, it does boil down to taking action and then learn from it.

Then taking more action and learning from it.

You could easily buy a decent domain in the niches you have specified, create a simple website.

Drive some traffic to it for $100 using ppc.

Test your headlines, run some surveys and prmise them the report free in return when it is published and then get on with it.

Then you will have more information on to decide.

It may be that the niches aren't big enough to make a fortune but you could eventually have dozens of these things set up and combined do ok.

Your English and grammar is better than most English and American people's so don't worry about that.

Based on your post, your English and grammer are extremely good compared to even some native English speakers.

Regarding getting your feet wet by producing and selling niche reports, I say go for it. This will give you some experience. It'll earn you some extra income. However, I wouldn't stop there. Continue to research other methods for growing your online business.

Hey, why not create short report? As long as you create something that's in an already Hot and IN DEMAND niche, and do a fair bit of research, there is nothing stopping you.

Have you thought about doing a report in the IM niche or something else that's big in demand, like weight loss, bodybuilding or dating? Something that would reach a wider audience of course.

I say go for it, your writing is pretty good, you have the drive...TAKE ACTION!

Thanks for all your replies and the kind words on my english skills

Im filled with motivation to start researching the topics and I am particulary hooked on the soap business idea. Apparently there is a lot of interrest in this subject, and I believe I have found a so far untouched subniche that I can write a small report on.

Thats where Im at now, having already done a bit of research and now have a few pages of notes to start writing my report. I'll keep writing updates and going through this message board, it seems like a great place to learn

I would suggest not giving your niche ideas away on here .

Your first niche is very manageable . It didn't have any products in it until you posted the idea on here.

There is people on here that will go above and beyond to help you .

There is also people trolling around just to pick up information like you have given out .

Good luck but be smart .

Hmm I had actually given it a bit of thought, but I am the kind of sucker who believe in the goodness of my fellow man (at least untill I'm proven wrong that is)

      But thanks for the advice..

        Henrik,

        Troy is right.

Most folks on here are great.

But some are total rip off merchants and will steal your best ideas, screw up the market place and move on to something else, all because they can't create their own stuff and haven't figured out how to make more than $1 a day.

        Be careful.

Thanks for the heads up, believe me, I am most grateful

I do however think that it is more important for me at the present moment to recieve a lot of constructive criticism on my ideas, so that I can get a good routine going, the two subjects i mentioned earlier is but a few of the ones I have in mind, it is just the ones I plan to use for my pilot projects. And getting your input on these is much more valuable for me than the potential lost sales i might get from those who look to rip off my ideas

              Quick question by the way

How is the preferred way to write these short reports?

From a personal viewpoint? ie. learn from me I know from personal experience. or from a more genereal and teaching viewpoint

What im basically asking is, is it alright to write as if from ones own experience, or would this be misleeding to such a degree that it would be considered unethical?

So would you agree, then, that theft is wrong? Say... theft of intellectual property? That presenting yourself as having expertise is wrong?

That is comparing apples to oranges. If you do the research and learn from good sources, you will know far more than the average person about a subject. To then pass on that knowledge to those who want to learn more is perfectly acceptable.

Ah yes, that could be true were the information in the book correct. It isn't, though. There is little substance to it, and much of the content is simply wrong. Had the author any level of expertise on the subject, or any experience, he'd know that.

Before you go and write these reports, have a plan in place!

      - How am I going to get traffic
      - What are my comp
      - Are people actually looking for this (forums is a good source of info)

      Things to consider... before writing

      - Whats is my audience
      - Age of my audience
      - Are they looking for this
      - Do I know enough
      - Could I know more
