I haven't been around for a while but i'm about to start affiliate marketing. What are these new FTC changes people are talking about? Also, how does it affect affiliate marketing?

one of them is to make it crystal clear that you are going to make a commission if they buy from your link.

The new guidelines are not so much new as updated to reflect advances in technology.

The main gist is that if you use testimonials, you can't rely on the disclaimer "results not typical." You must explain what "typical results" are. If you don't know what typical results are, don't use testimonials that give specific results.

For affiliates/bloggers, you must disclose, in an area that is accessible and readily viewable that you will earn money if someone buys something you've recommended.

    That's pretty much it.

So are people actually following these guidelines laid out by the FTC? Because I just looked around EZA and a lot of the links go to peoples sites promoting products, but they don't let them know that they are being paid a commission if they choose to by through their link... Am I missing something here?

The fact is the FTC is over loaded right now with these changes. How long are they willing to play the gambling game is up to them. Make the changes now, so you don't have a lawsuit knocking on your door..

Doesn't seem to me like many people are making many changes, big corporations included. I just walked out of Chase bank today and saw at least a dozen traditional ads and testimonials that violated these "guidelines" (of course, the usual bias says that they're 'exempt', but whatever)

My feeling on this is, if you know the law or rules.....follow them. Let the law take care of those who dont.
