Problems attaching a mpeg video to my email.

I have a hard drive digital camcorder. I was able to successfully upload the video footage on to my computer. It is about 1.4 gigs in size. I have been unable to attach it to any email set up I have.

I am a novice when it comes to tech issues. The last time I was on this forum, I was advised to download the software Audacity for my audio setup. Is there any software like Audacity for Video edits and email uploads?

You'll struggle to send a file of any kind that big by email I'm afraid. On Gmail the limit is only 25 meg and most will be the same. Even if it gets sent through your own email account I don't think it will ever be received at the other end.

    Here's what you could do...

Set up an account with Rocket Red Box Online Store as they give you 2GB free and if it's a friend you're sending the file to get them to set up an account too.

Then you'll be able to share files up to 2GB in size almost instantly from computer to computer.

Forget about attaching video to emails. It won't work.
You need to upload it to a site and send people a link to the site.

I was able to get the file as far as Real Player SP. I was trying to burn the uploaded Video to a DVD from there. I keep getting the message that I need to download a DirectShow-compatible MPEG-2 decoder.

Where can I get a reasonable free download of this software?

Uh, yeah, that is waaaaay too large to send out via email.

That is even way too large to put on a website. Your best bet is to either break the video up into smaller bites for email, post it on a video site such as youtube, or mail it out on a DVD for a small fee.

If you need help, let me know.

Nero is the best DVD buring software IMHO. The verion I use came with my DVD drive, but you can get a free trial version from nero.com.

You might want to edit the footage down before you burn it to DVD. You probably got some Editing software on a DVD with your camcorder that will do the trick; if not, see if you have Windows Movie Maker on your computer. It's pretty basic, but can help you get the footage down to a more manageable size.
