Congratulations, you now own Craigslist..., what do you think of marketers spamming your site? How would you stop them, or would you?

    Hello,
Craigslist is still a great resource if you can get past all of the spam listings.
They only have themselves to blame for letting it go on for so long.

There should have been a zero spam tolerance from day one.
My guess is they just did not want to spend the money at the start
and now they have to try to fix it.

What is a good resource for understanding how to market on Craigslist? I find it as confusing as Twitter.

      Hi,

Does Craiglist really work to find really great leads? I doubt it.

I do also, but i got my hands on kennys WSO on how to manipulate the system it is more to do with selling PVA to existing marketers to allow posting on CraigsList.
There must be somebody on here that has a WSO or something regarding marketing there..

How are they spamming your site? Is the site hosting a blog, forum, classified ad pages, social networking site, blog hosting site, article directory... or something else?

How I'd stop them depends on how they're spamming. But yeah -- if they're truly spamming, then I'd stop them before my site became a huge mess.

    Cheers,
    Becky

ETA: I assume you're talking about a CraigsList type site specifically, but just checking in case you're referring to spamming in a more general sense. Plus CL not only has the classified ads, but the discussion communities too.

I think Scott meant what would you do if you are the owner of Craigslist and you find your site (i.e. Craigslist) riddled with spam.

Yes, I think that's what he meant as well. I believe that the owners of Craigslist really don't care. They see it as traffic and who are they to stop what people may be looking for. The more traffic they receive on there site though it could diminish the viewership, one would think. But people keep goig there...I know that I do.

I'm guessing Scott's original post is aimed at a lot of the people that whine because their ad blasts keep getting ghosted or deleted.

He's asking, if the shoe were on the other foot, what would you do?

My answer? Nuke the bastids (figuratively - no mushroom clouds).

To stop people spamming my forum, I got moderators to check new postings, deleted "funny" accounts and made people have to email me with the reasons on joining.
