How much to charge for getting google front page listing

INTERNET MARKETING

A software company has asked me to optimize their website and I have brought them to front page google...they have asked me to give my bill... I don't have a clue how to charge them... I never did this professionally...does anyone have any idea of the standard fee for this type of work.

Ditto what Tom said - but for your next project, it's probably best to work this out *before* you put in all that hard work. Otherwise, you can end up with a lot of misunderstandings, especially if they think your fee is too high. Once you set your fee for this project, you'll have a good starting point for any future work.

If it's a large company think of the highest fee you could imagine charging then mulitply by 3 and you should be getting some kind of ball park figure.

In all liklihood they'll want you to itemize your service...I'd avoid doing that.

You'll just be giving them different ways to criticize what you do or justify not paying your full fee.

Your bill should be something simple like:

SEO services leading to first page ranking for keywords:
xxxx
xxxx
xxxx
as promised.

Total fee for service $XXXXXX

Don't start putting in hours you worked or anything along those lines.

You're charging for providing a service that gets results.

You got the results and your bill should reflect that.

I also agree that you really should have worked out a fee BEFORE you started doing the work.

Ideally you should charge some portion of the fee before you begin any work for a company too.

  $3500 to optimize a site and get it on page 1 is a good starting
  point. Just to get it there for 24 hours or whatever you terms
  are. If your client wants you to keep him on page 1 bill him
  on a monthly basis.
  
  If the keyword is particularly tricky to rank for obviously $3500
  isn't going to cover it and you would need to make adjustments.
  
  SEO is tedious, hard work. Make sure your client understands
  that outsourcing SEO is much more economical than doing it in-house.
