Need Some Quick Twiter Traffic... Sustainalbe???

Ok here it is...

This will probably get more spammers to follow you than targeted users but, maybe it's worth a try.

Set up a twitter account for your site or blog. Create the account with a username that will not seem as though you are just doing this for traffic -- I usually create a name that is inline with my keywords but not too off the wall. Something like RecipeMan or HotWingsFanantic.

After you've created your account. In your settings area of twitter - make sure that you link to your site . Also include your link in your "More Info URL" in the settings area in your user profile. Make your "One Line Bio" something that people will want to find out more about -- this is key make the bio compelling! Also add a picture that is not too off the wall for your target - the more personal the better.

Download Phoenix Twitter Desktop (I can't link to it because of my post count -- search for it, it's free) every morning go in and follow 100 people based on your keyword -- you can use the search in the software to seek out followers that have recently tweeted about your keyword. (it takes about a minute to do this).

Don't follow too many more than 100 to 150 followers a day as more may get banned from twitter. I only do 100 to 150 every few days and I haven't had an account suspended yet... (it's easy... it only takes about one or two minutes each day)

You will start to get some followers that will follow you back. Most of them will follow your profile link and this is where you will get your traffic. Make sure the site you send them too is compelling -- either a blog or a well put together sales page. I find that a blog works for me as the followers that I get tend to revisit a blog more often than a static sales page (your mileage may vary; if you have high converitng sales page... who knows).

If you get to the limit of people that you follow; go into your following list and un-follow those that are not following you. You can automate this is if you like with some free services.

I've had one or two sites get hundreds of visitors with this technique -- although it is hard to sustain the numbers using this idea as most will visit once and then ignore your tweets... it can have some one time buyers if your target site is good.

To try and sustain some of the users you can combine this technique with a blog that uses twitterfeed to continue to tweet out your blog posts automatically. This way those that are actually following you based on the information you provide are still getting relevant content.

I don't suspect that this is an original idea but, it is something that has worked for me.

Do you think it is viable...

It's late so if I left anything out let me know... or just tell me where to go!

It works in what way? People have been telling others that Twitter is a goldmine since it came out and the only gold in that mine is spammers, when used this way.

When used to actually follow and network with people (as in really interesting people in your niche), it can be a goldmine.
