Funny Mistakes I've Made In Internet Marketing!

8 replies
Just this week

1. I mistakenly told a customer here to email me at admin@gmail.com

2. I emailed out a link that doesn't work...

Then proceeded to email out the "corrected" version...which didn't work

3. I was making a video for my customers...and while at a site that has high PR..and one that I have used before(a Rap Music Site), all of a sudden an image of a naked woman comes out of the bottom right hand corner of my screen

4. I sent out another broken download link...so thats 3 in a period of a little over a week

5. I didn't save my work on a sales page so in case my computer shut down, I would lose all my work

My computer shut down

6. I just discovered that my Aweber return email has an address that I never use.

I use that email for directory and article submissions.

Needless to say, I am going to be up a while weeding through all of those confirmation emails to get to my customers emails lol

I bet you can't top this

    Sorry, can't top those. The admin one was the funniest. I have used the wrong emails when responding to different customers. I use forwarders to my hotmail account (soon to switch to a gmail) and then reply with the wrong alternate email from the dropdown. I'm sure there are more mishaps. Will think of them later. Thanks for sharing.

    I once blasted my list a message that said...

    "Testing, 1...2..3."

    The response rate was huge!!!

      I deleted the root folder of my blog on my FTP program. Then, when I was unable to reinstall, I deleted the DB. Effectively I had to start again from a 2 week old backup (but lost loads of work).

      I think it was worth the lesson though - I create weekly backups every week now.

      I once did a training audio for my blog that said Testing 1.2.3

      didnt even realize i put the wrong one up until someone left a comment but by that time i went to my audio membership site and saw that i had 57 people listen to it already.

      Everyone makes mistakes i guess especially when your excited about something you are doing

        I sent an email to my customers that was meant for review site owners, asking them to review my product on their site, and talking about the 75% commission. Luckily I stopped the transmission before too many of them got it! Got no response from that.

    I have nightmares about these sort of things. And have done variations of them and know I will again. As Craig said, this kind of thing likely happens because you are excited about what you are doing.

    It reminds me of a friend of mine who had a boss who was difficult and confusing and once in a while he would forward one of her "directives" to me to share the nonsense he had to deal with. Once though, he replied instead of forwarded with the note, "Whatever does she mean?"

    He was pretty tense and was thinking his career was over....but she replied thanking him for his candour as she noticed a typo in her email that did make her directions unclear. Whew.

    I sent an email to my list with Constant Contact. When I received my own copy I was shocked to find that I did not change the top block of the template -

    "December Special Offer
    12/14/09
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    You may want to include a personal greeting, a note or editorial written by the owner of your company. By including a photo, you can make your greeting even more personal."
      hmmm.......Mistakes....
      Well, this one wasn't so funny, but....
      About 2 months ago, we "trained" one of the girls in the office to update project files in a content management system we had......
      SHE DELETED IT
      As a result....
      I've had customers yelling at me for 2 months...
      Good times....
      Good times....
      On a related note, she was the first person fired from our new office
