Anyone owned or run a website directory?

I've decided to start my own website directory. I'm not doing it to earn any money just to have a bit of fun and to see how big I can grow it.

Can anyone offer me any advice on which script to use plus any other do's and don'ts that you think are worth knowing

    That would be a way too crowded niche. I would rather try with a blog to experiment.

    And dont hate the money, it comes handy most of the time

    What kind of directory ???

    Article Directory ? Search Engine Directory ? Web Directory ? - I have all 3 but would need to know what kind of directory you are wanting ...

    A website directory (it's pretty clear from the OP!)

    I know it's crowded but as I say it's more of an experiment than anything else, and would fit nicely into my portfolio.

      Kind of hard to do when people do not understand what kind of directory. Just saying a website directory could mean many different things. Need more information ...
