How To Change Your Life in 2010

Recently I was hanging out with a bunch of smart people at 3-day community event in downtown Chicago. Some of the people there were actually my offline clients and subscribers and over the last few days many of them came up to talk with me. And there is one question I was asked repeatedly.

They always ask me how I managed to pull through the challenges I've faced...and trust me, I've had a fair amount in my short life!

Achieve More

Do you want to know what I do to achieve more? Do you want to know my exact formula to how I started from one day not being able to afford a loaf of bread and any other 2 items to go with it? and in the last 5 years have been blessed enough to create various information and internet marketing businesses for myself and many more for my clients? Here we go...

Secret - Work with Mentors and Hire Coaches

Work with mentors and hire coaches and always mastermind with folks who are smarter and further along the success pathway than you are (at least in some area of business or life.) I regularly work with folks I know are smarter than me in different things and it pays off big time. Some I met here in the Warrior Forum, so you don't need to look far.

Your mindset, ability to think creatively, and your personal money making and marketing skills are always going to remain your most important assets. Therefore, if you want to achieve more the secret is to invest more in yourself.

When you invest, you should not only invest financially, you need to take care of the whole you - Your physical, spiritual and emotional you. Invest time to grow and become the person you really desire to be.

Prepare for Huge Success in 2010

As you prepare for huge success in 2010 decide now on the investments you want to make in yourself. Who do you want to meet and surround yourself with in the coming months?

Who do you need to connect with that's going to help you achieve the level of personal and business success you desire?

Everyone we see who has achieved a level of success didn't arrive where they are in a single day no matter what your favorite 'guru' may want you to believe. You have to invest somehow...why not start now.

If you've tried in the past and not succeeded remember, the past does not equate to the future and no one ever got anywhere by 'planning' on doing things.

Invest, Invest and Invest in YOURSELF

I know WHY I've been blessed and why I'm here right now. It's because even back when I was making $500 a month from leveraging information and providing services and information products, my first monthly purchase was always an investment in myself. It was either a book, a local workshop, an audio program etc .

So, do you have to do this? No, but do it only if you really want to be a success!

Here's a Parting Thought ...

If these ideas turned a simple very average chap like me, someone who failed woefully in business 3 times in a row into a fairly accomplished business consultant (Disclosure: Offline Marketing isn't the only information or internet business I'm involved in), what can they do for you?

Think about it and here's to your success in 2010!

P.S. If you need help with planning your success path for 2010 and you're willing to play your part by working hard and smart, let me know. I'm willing to work with a few people who are ready to achieve more in life and business in 2010 and are ready to be held accountable (and I will hold you accountable for sure)

This is a no-strings attached offer and I have NOTHING to sell you now or in the future. Giving still exists.

I only rarely print things out, but this is getting printed and posted on the wall just behind my monitor to inspire me as the new year approaches. I thank you for taking the time to post this. Sincerely.

    Hello,
I work at home full time now and I watch television at the same time or a movie
    from the library.
Well that television set is being moved and I promise to just listen to audio coaching
    while doing my work.
    Thanks for your post.

Posts like this one are my catnip. I truly enjoy any spark of motivation that I can gain this way.
I agree that finding a mentor is a fantastic idea, but what about when you cannot afford one? If only there were a way to find a mentor who could gain something from me as well, that way we could help each other out without the hourly rates.

I understand you position and let me ask you a few questions.

      • How do you know mentoring will help you? This is a question any mentor will ask you because it's an investment of their time...something that every successful person values over and above anything else
      • Have you identified a person or persons that you would like to mentor you?
      • Have you approached them and made a proposal?
      • Beyond money, what can you offer them to compensate for their investment of time? E.g. proof that it will be worth their time? What prior actions can you show that you've taken in order to show that you're not just, with all due respect, a 'free-loader'?
Let me tell you, from experience, FREE is the hardest coaching/mentoring relationship to work with because there's no skin in the game for the person getting the FREE part of the deal.

I coach and mentor 'corporate types' where the Fortune 500 company pays everything, and I know the response I get at times.

When I'm working with coaches, consultants, service professionals, small business owners and entrepreneurs who are investing their own resources it's a totally different ball game entirely.

"NO" 0r "Sorry, Not Now" May Be The Right Answer

When I first got accepted by my very first mentor and before I became a mentor myself, I got turned down quite a number of times. Some of thoise "NOs" I remember to this day because at the time they hurt...probably my ego more than anything!

The person who finally agreed to mentor me recognized my sincerity and asked me questions along the lines of what I outlined above. Though he's now in his 80's, I still consider him my mentor to this day.

      It Works...

Yes, I've had free and paid mentors and Yes, it was worth because you can never, ever regret an investment in self.

Thank you Bayo for your post as mentioned above i will print this out to help me get on the right path. Your are quite right regarding the mentoring. I need to be held accountable so many times i have purchased the newest WSO hoping to get myself in the game but it usually gets me nowt my fault entirely as i am sure many are doing well when they implement the directions.

If you would like to take me on and offer some guidance i would be more than grateful. This coming year i plan to marry in August, as i work 50 hours a week at the minute i need to create an extra income stream or 3 to pay for the big day.
    Thanks again for you post

      Hi

A good friend of mine for Leeds mentions the word 'nowt' quite a lot, so it brought a smile to my face as I read your post

Creating an extra income stream or multiple extra income streams is possible if you can do 3 things (and I've posted this same message across the internet for anyone and everyone to read)
      1. Find the information you need
      2. Apply it immediately
      3. Be persistent and get results (You might need to change what you do as a result)
There's an abundance of information and if you can filter out exactly what you need and use it...the secret code is yours.

Sounds easier than it is but it's the only true success formula.

Let's see what the new year brings.

Getting sidetracked and distracted by the constant barrage of new IM systems, offers, etc is one of the most dangerous things you can allow to happen to you. I finally feel that I have a proper method for growing my traffic and building backlinks. So, I am going to STOP buying additional IM products and work with what I've got! That's part of my plan for 2010...

Good post. I like the part where you say that the first thing you did when you earned $500 / month was to re invest some of it in yourself.

Too many people get too distracted at the first sign of success. Always grow yourself and try to achieve the next step.

    Thanks for the post again,
    Kevin

      Hi

I'm just 'Bayo' by the way!

You seem to have some of the of your challenges already in focus and all you need to do is wade straight into them

For instance, you mentioned 'procrastination' as one of them. Generally we procrastinate because of the fear of something (it's not the only cause) or a low appreciation of what the results offer us.

The RESULTS of whatever you're procrastinating on need to have a higher value for you. I can't tell you how to do that here but why not re-evaluate the results you want to achieve and then determine the actions you need to take to get them? A coach or mentor is just going to hold you accountable but you need to have already got clear about the value of the results you want to achieve.

Can you do that to get started? (The only correct answer is "Yes" )

You may find that you actually don't need a mentor, that what you really need is a change in focus and a review of how you invest your time.

But for now, do that one thing I mentioned above and let's see the difference it starts to make in the next week.

      To your success.

Some guidance I hope will help.
      1. Start with the RESULTS you want to achieve
      2. Quantify them so they're as clear and unambiguous as possible
      3. Make sure they're measurable too
      4. Be honest with yourself about WHY you want to achieve those results
      5. Prioritize your list
      6. Now select just 1 thing that you are going to do NOW (without buying any product, service, ebook or anything else) to get started
      7. Do it now
      8. Don't do anything else on your list until you get that 1 thing done
      9. Evaluate how you feel about achieving that goal - Did it make you feel like you wanted to? If not, you may need to review your shortlist
Hold yourself accountable first before you seek external accountability. No one can hold you accountable unless you're accountable to yourself already.

What you'll discover is that when you partner with the right person, you'll be on fire!

      Hope this helps.

If there is a formula for changing your life this is it.

Start with small actions everyday and gradually increase them. Repeated action (that will actually get you closer to your goals), persistence and a good mentor are key to the process of change.

        Great thread!

I see a lot of people trying to form mastermind groups without really knowing what they're doing or why they're doing it. Somewhere they heard they should be in a mastermind group, so they set out blindly to start or join one.

Here's what The Napoleon Hill Foundation has to say about forming a Mastermind Alliance.

I am not a spiritual or religous person.

However the biggest transformations I have seen in people throughout my life originate from finding God in some way.

Many successful people I know do not know what a Mastermind is and many have never even opened a business book before.

There are so many great ideas in this forum for example and even in the wider internet. But why do 95% of wannabe marketers still fail? It is not due to lack of action or a lack of knowledge.
