What is the best web development software for a Mac?

Not too long ago, I made the switch.

With a PC, I, of course, love Dreamweaver and Frontpage is good, too.

But, for a Mac, what do you recommend? Rapidweaver looks so limiting. NVU... I have that but the features could be improved.

So, what do you recommend? What's good for the money?

No offense, but the ones mentioned by you (for PC) are not "web development software". They are wysiwyg html editors.

You may want to re-phrase your question/title.

Depends on what you want to do. If you want to put up "normal" web sites I can't recommend RapidWeaver enough. Yes, it's limiting, but you can buy add-ins that increase the power and there are some great themes you can add.

For web apps written in PHP I use Coda from Panic -- for almost anything else I now use RapidWeaver.

To be honest, for a long time I let it sit because I, too, felt it was too limiting (especially for a "programmer" like me). Then I started playing around with it, created a "sales letter page" template, and that's what did it for me. Once I realized I could put up a simple sales page FAST I decided it was good enough for me to use. =

Dreamweaver *is* available on the Mac, you know, so you could use that. I stopped using it a couple years ago and honestly don't miss it at all. I use RW for quick sites, and Coda for web applications.

Rapidweaver looks awesome. I was just concerned about the templates for internet marketing. That's good to hear. Thanks.

I made the switch from pc to mac a few years ago too. Best decision ever.

I use Rapidweaver and love it. You may want to explore it a little more. Check out "yourhead" it 's a website that has some great plugin for Rapidweaver. With these plugins you can really make some great looking sites.

Another thing to do is explore Rapidweaver's form and see some of the nice work other have done with their sites.

Anyway I like it and has never let me down..

Here's an example of the "simple sales letter" template I mentioned:

    Product Creation Station

And to give you more power, I just found out about this plug-in last week and haven't used it yet, but I plan to buy it soon -- it adds some really cool features:

    PlusKit

RW isn't "the best thing in the world," but it's a LOT more capable than it might appear at first.
