Advice for a Newbie.

Hello All, I am newish to IM. I have read a lot and have dipped a tiny bit into adsense but I am getting nowhere. One thing I keep reading is oh you don't have to spend any money yet every model I find says find product, get Domain, build site, promote product, drive traffic to site, make money. If I don't need any money to start why do I need a site. even the bum marketing info I find needs money to start.

Does anyone have or can they point me to a blue print to guide me on how to make some extra money passively online with out spending any money starting out?

    One suggestion would be to offer some sort of service. It could be writing, backlink building, or SEO. Don't believe all the hyp that sells dreams. It takes some work and some money to build and establish a passive income.

      To start a business online, you need like 10 bucks for a domain and 10 bucks for hosting every month... you could probally find cheaper hosting then that at godaddy. With that though, you will be doing everything by hand and not out sourcing everything. Find a niche and get some backlinks (Use the search function, so great posts talk about backlinks, seo etc...)

        Well truth be told, you can make money without even spending cash...

        You could easily create a free blog at blogger, a squidoo page or a hub page, then start driving traffic using articles..However, you're not building a business... you're simply earning money..

        These 2.0 websites can change their rules whenever they want and your income could disappear in a flash! That's why you're better off with your own domain!

        Yes you can earn money without spending..you just gotta put in the work

    if you don't have the cash to start on a internet business i suggest you to do free surveys, and create a blog...have affiliate links... hope this help!

    Hello,
    the amount of money you need to get started in the internet marketing business
    is very low.
    Yes you do need a domain,yes you do need hosting.
    The rest you can do on your own,if you are willing to learn that is.

      I definitely agree with Lou. I'll add to that though. Whatever you decide, just pick one thing, whether it be adsense, CPA, product creation, or whatever. Pick that one thing and live and breathe it for a month or two. Give it a fair try. Just don't go hopping from method to method. That was a mistake i made when i started out.

    Lou and MrEyeconic have it right. Pick one thing and focus hard on that one thing and do everything you can to make it work. It's when a person gets distracted by better-sounding that the trouble starts and next thing you know you are out money you spent on the latest and greatest idea in the hopes of making a lot of money overnight.

    Find one thing and stick to it...it should work out just fine.

      You don't need a ton of money, just enough to get a site up and running which is very little. $10 for the domain and a simple hosting plan for anywhere from $8 to $12 ish per month. Don't think it will happen overnight though cause this stuff takes time. Set a plan for yourself and stick to it. Good luck!

        I'm always surprised when someone asks why they need a site. You want to earn money online...right? Then it only makes sense that you need to BE online. You can start with squidoo and other free sites - but if you want to earn real money you have to open your "store".

        No, bum marketing doesn't cost money - Travis Sago's original bum marketing tutorial is still available online for free. Don't confuse doing article marketing with buying products about article marketing.

        An online business is extremely low cost to start. $10 for a domain name registration, $5 a month for hosting - pretty cheap to start with the basics.

          Ditto. Expanding upon that and into others comments, you CAN start for free by using blogger, squidoo, but I highly recommend taking your first $$ you make and INVESTING it into a domain name, then hosting so YOU are in control of your business, and not at the mercy of the whims of a "free" site.

    Maybe it's bcs there is a lot you can do with your site, from promoting as much product as you want as well as taking advantage of the unlimited ways to drive traffic to your site.

    However, you can start with blogger dot com and create a blog. There are many free affiliate programs you can start with as well as adding Google Ad sense to your blog.

    Making money online requires expertise. Write valuable articl and include a link to your offer. And keep repeating the process until you are ready to expand or explore more money making avenues.

    This process requires a bit of effort and time.

    Visit this forums on a regular basis for more business ideas and such.

      Here's a quick, entirely free method to start:

      1. Get a Blogger blog for free and do your basic on-page SEO
      2. Adjust it so that it looks like a regular blog (perhaps adding the proper gadgets, changing the favicon, removing the Blogger bar, etc)
      3. Continue to put valuable content on it. Monetize it either by using Blogger's built in "monetize" (Adsense), affiliates, list building, PPA
      4. Use article marketing to drive traffic. One article per day every day for a couple months should get you reasonable amounts of traffic if you have a strong call to action
      5. Forum marketing, blog posting, backlinking, etc
      6. Once you have made $10, buy a domain through Blogger (settings -> publishing -> switch to custom domain) ... Now instead of loseweigh.blogspot.com you have hxxp://www.loseweight.com (example)
      7. Repeat step 3, 4, and 5 ad infinitum
      There are hundreds of other ways. Get creative. JV with someone. Build a list. Become an authority. Keep up with this forum and learn some smart marketing methods.

      you can make money without initial investment, BUT it will not be much and it will take a lot of work.

      you can make more if you bring some skills to the table.

      it was handy to have a mindmap about this...

      Revenue lines - no website:

      writing:
      revenue sharing websites: squidoo, hubpages, etc.
      outsourcing - writing, proofreading, traffic generation
      level 1 affiliate marketing

      music:
      sell music from royalty free websites.

      photography - images:
      sell images from royalty free websites.
      sell t-shirts, etc from printing on demand websites (cafepress, etc)

      misc:
      online gambling (there is one guy that has a system, it is not gambling-gambling, never played with this)
      surveys
      get paid to read emails
