Hello. I am currently designing a new site and would like to know if it’s allowed to put logos from big companies on my page. Here are two examples: Survey Club >> Take Paid Surveys Online and Get Paid! And: Make Money Taking Surveys I hope someone knows because I don’t want to get in any legal problems. |

You are on thin ice here. This is not the place to try innocent sounding questions while promoting affiliate links. As those are both affiliate programs, suggest you check the affiliate tools. While you're checking, try reading the posting rules here. |

Get a lawyer well versed in copyright law and have them tell you. Getting advice around here on that stuff is like getting tennis tips from me. |

ok thanks. I just wanted to be sure because I watched the video with Frank Kern about conversion secrets and that it helps putting famous brands on the landing page.

You should first visit each site of the companies owning the logos you want to use. Some companies have a "Logo Policy" in place that defines what you may use and how you may use it. Aside from that, seek qualified legal advice from a real lawyer and not a <urp> Drunken Greek! |

Kim beat me to it. The most logical approach is to ask the company itself. If you are an affiliate, they usually provide you with the types of graphics you can use. Contact the affiliate manager if the policy about using logos is not clearly defined in the affiliate guidelines or elsewhere. You might try putting in a special request. Sometimes, affiliate programs do allow options not written in their policy. Sylvia |

I would say no. There is something called "nominative fair use" Nominative use - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia But I would say it does not apply in your case. There is no compelling reason you need those logos on your site but there is a compelling case that someone would infer that they implied direct involvement or sponsorship by the companies referenced. Obviously you want to show those logos to add credibility to your site...but I think in this case that would be trademark infringement/dillution...and I wouldn't want to piss off any of those companies you listed. P.S. Your site claims nearly 14 millions members...you should have a lawyer by now, right? -_- |

hello. thank you for your help. This isen't my site but I plan to make a similar one. What do you think would be the worst that could happen if I had those logos on my landing page? It's just so frustrating that so many other sites use these logos. |

The general rule is that you can't publish the logo graphics without permission from the copyright owner. In many, many cases however it will not be a problem to get permission - especially if it involves presenting the companie's products as affiliate. In some cases companies actually have a page on their web site where they state their rules for using trademarks, logos etc. Ralf |

Best case scenario, you use a logo and no one finds out or you get a lawyer letter demanding you remove them. Worst case, they sue you and you would most likely lose or go bankrupt just defending it. Obviously you are in business to make money...why risk losing all you make over a legal entanglement? If you feel you have reason to use the logos, you can always contact the legal department of the companies and ask...I'm guessing they'll say no, but who knows? Ultimately though, the best advice I can give is to contact a lawyer well-versed on copyright and trademark law. They can give you a better answer instead of my suppositions. | |
