SERP tip (Sarch Engine Result Page)

Maybe this is old news to folks here, if so I apologize, but I just learned a hard lesson with Google SERPs - CapitalizaTION MEAns evERything!

As you SEO your website make sure you account for capitalization of words - Google accounts for it and so MUST you! Here is an example:

Purple Widgets
and
purple widgets

Are two different things to Google. You have to put yourself at the keyboard of your target audience and account for those who will capitalize words and those that don't. You will get two different SERPs at the minimum.

So in the above example, your key SEO words MUST be:

Purple Widgets, purple widgets, Purple widgets, purple Widgets.

You have to account for ALL variations in capitalization to rank high in all of them.

Same result. Only thing that changed was the wording in two sponsored links but the URL was the same. Don't worry about it. Almost everyone that delves into SEO has had an AHA! moment that turned out to be really a ho hum moment.

What position do you guys see my honuakaicafe.com?

I keep seeing them in different positions with nothing but the capitals used or not.

        I'm using the latest FireFox.

I just did the check on IE 7 and both appear at position 7.

I know that If I'm logged into my Gmail account I get different positions - #1 if logged in and #7 if not logged in. That's for IE 7 or Firefox.

Same result for both searches on my end as well.

Eric are you logged in to your webmaster tools or your Google account? Sometimes that can throw off SERPS.

If I log into my Gmail account I get higher positions of all my websites. Each has been optimized using Google tools. It automatically seems to log me into webmaster tools since when I go there I am already logged in.

I don't see any difference - which Google search are you using? US? UK?

Have you tweaked the results to your liking using the tool they offer to make pages go up or down when you search for something?

I did that once and thought I had found something when, in fact, I had manipulated the results myself. LOL

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!

      US.

My position of #3 will stay there and eventually drop to #7 in a few days if I don't post an article or add a backlink. The non-capitalized is rock steady at #7.

I get different results for some terms, and the same results for others.

I also get different numbers of results on most of the terms that I've tried.

You shouldn't worry about capitalization, Google knows better. Perhaps you see variations in results due to different data centers that serves the SERP on your PC at a time. I won't concentrate on this item at all since there are more significant SEO stuff to focus your attention to.

Well I know when I search I never capitalize anything... and I tried your theory in Google and the rankings are almost exactly the same, one time i seen the two tops spots switched. I don't think anyone really has to worry about this...

I sure believe everyone here - but I still see differences on my latest version of FireFox's Google search bar.

Oh well, if I ever find out why I see a difference I'll let you guys know.
