Unrealistic Webmasters?

I don't get it, are pretty much all webmasters unrealistic when it comes to link building or am I missing something?

I'm talking about elance in particular where 90% of people expect to get 50 one way incoming links from PR3 sites, on the actual page of the page rank, for less than $150.00. Oh and they must be related to their industry. No comment, articles, or directories.

First of all, some industries don't seem to have that many high pr sites. Second of all, how do they expect to get a one way link from their competitors main page since that is the only page they have that has any pr?

What am I missing here? Where can I get these high PR links as easily as they seem to think it is? Or are they hoping to find someone in a third world country that will spend two months of time to make the $150.00? Are they all idiots? Please clue me in.

Well link building is cheap if you outsource. Most of the people that bid on these have their own network of sites and will just add your link. Most of the time it is on a crap site but since some people only look at PR they get what they ask for.

Sites do not have a PR .. Only pages have a PR but PR does not mean anything. A PR 0 can have 1,000 unique visitors a day while a PR 6 could have less than 50 uniques a day. I realize you sell link building services and you say High PR Sites but maybe those that are not willing to pay understand that being back on page 10 of a PR 3 site means nothing because most of the time that page 10 will be a PR 0.

Thus in their eyes they are not being put on a high PR site but a page that has a PR of 0...

With all that said I would not pay $150 either if the pages I was put on was PR 3 because frankly PR means nothing to me. I may be convinced to spend $50 for 50 links on an actual page that has a PR 3 ....

Besides that if you think your services are worth more then just go to another site if those on elance are not willing to pay.. Better yet use the link building for yourself and create and build an income for yourself...

You would have to have a huge network of high pr sites to accomplish getting them 50 links on a site that is in their industry.

Maybe I'll turn my site into an adsense site because I'm sick of these unrealistic expectations. I'm about to crack the 1st page for "seo link building" so maybe that's what I'll do.

Exactly why I stopped taking on website development clients.. They expected to get a $5,000 custom built site for $50.. So I decided after 15 years of building sites for others it was time to build for myself and no longer take on website development clients.

Maybe your best bet is to use your services for yourself... Nobody can really answer that but you ...

PR means nothing. Research and give your customers quality info, and it will grow on its own. No spamming required, no link "packs" (what a bunch of BS that is) required either. And wow, James here I thought I was the only one. The reasons you state are the same that I got out of website building. Sure I can do it and do it well, but you won't get it for $50, $100 or even $300. My time is more valuable than that. And I HATE micro managers.
