Facebook Marketing Tactic You'll Like!

Hello fellow warriors,

Are you on Facebook? If not, you may be missing out on targeted groups of people who need what you're offering.

For instance, I offer online piano lessons in the New Age style - a very narrow niche. Now, I'd like to reach people interested in this style of music. So, what do I do?

I go to Facebook, type in the name George Winston (big New Age piano guy) and up pops George and over 1000 of his friends.

Now, the cool thing about Facebook (like Twitter) is that they let you add friends. But Facebook allows you to send a personal message along with the friend invite.

It's important to not come on strong in this message (avoid the hard sell) but you can introduce yourself like what I did in the below message:

Hi (enter FB friend name),

I see you're a fan of George Winston. Me too! In fact, I like his music so much I actually teach people how to play it. Looking forward to being one of your Facebook friends!

Sincerely,
Edward Weiss

Notice the signature line. I don't sell in the intro but by placing my URL in the sig, it looks perfectly fine and I don't come across as pushy.

This is just another guerilla marketing tactic you can add to your arsenal.

Interesting method. Yes, it is important to not be pushy in the first message.
Your approach is very subtle. Thanks for sharing.

All good and well, but Facebook doesn't like this. But if you don't mind that, go ahead.
