I was wondering if anyone could help. You know the movie trailer type videos like the recent Erick Rockafeller one? Does anyone know of a web site that teaches you how to create your own videos? I would dearly love to learn how to do that myself

Hi Tom you can check out some of my video marketing products at my warrior blog under my avatar.

Before you jump in and create extraordinary videos you're going to need to know the basics of what you can do .

While I have not seen the video that you're referring to my instinct tells me it's a higher-end video which can take a lot more experience.

I don't know what your time is worth but it could take weeks or months to learn how to create your own videos or you could just outsource it.

Or you could just start to learn the basics of video production and marketing and do the best you can with what you have.

It happens so that video trailers is what I do for money. If you are into spending $900 on Adobe After FX and few hundread in training, I'll be more than happy to help you out

Just keep in mind that you create real motion graphics unlike some canned Windows Movie Maker/ Camtasia bs

Some of the best training you can get can be obtained by typing in your favorite editing software name followed by "tutorial" for example "Sony Vegas tutorial" on YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. or Google

Also if there is a specific effect you want to learn type the name of that effect followed by the word "tutorial" on both those sites as well.

If you are willing to spend the cash and ready to put the time in, I would be aiming a lot higher than the link you put up.

I would jump all over Chris's offer, I am liking what I am seeing he is doing. We offer video but it is very high end and puts our stuff out of reach of 90% of marketers.

Its more about the source files than the actual editing. If you can get good quality source files then editing and getting effects is just a matter of using some good editing software.

Places like Digital Juice have a number of stock footage videos you can join together and then add all sorts of effects etc to turn into a professional looking video.

If you think its just a case of buying good editing software, getting some elements from DJ and sticking them together to make professional video, then you will come unstuck.

Creative Cow and Dvcreators.net is where alot of pros or up and coming pros go. If you purchase Final Cut Studio, it has entire training courses in there on motion design and animation. Some of what you are looking to achieve can be found in LiveType and Motion in Final Cut Pro.

I teach video production often in San Diego to small groups and we cover this in different ways. Constant motion (like one of the effects you are trying to achieve basically) is one of the best video triggers to keep people watching...not the only one, but one of them (and the type of motion in specifics!).
