Clickbank Order Form Sale Conversion Rate - Good or Crap?

My aggregate order form sale conversion rate for all my clickbank campaigns (in the last 60 days) combined is 15.7%. That means that only 15.7% of the people that actually go through the sales pages and are convinced to click through to the order form actually submit the order form. None of these are my own products, they are all affiliate campaigns. The sample size is 1,300. How does that compare to what others are seeing?

Thanks all,

Steve

Without knowing more about your campaign, it's impossible to say. The only important question is - are you making money? If so, then you are succeeding. From there, start tweaking and split testing to improve your ROI

That is the aggregate for all my different affiliate campaigns but it is fairly representative. I'm making money because it is all "free" traffic (Keeping in mind that no traffic is truly free. There was a cost in there somewhere) but I was wondering the kind of conversions other marketers are seeing from visitors that actually made it all the way to the order page.

There is so much talk about increasing conversion of sales pages, but far less about order pages. It appears there is something to be gained there as well. I would have expected to have a higher than 16% conversion from visitors that bothered to go all the way to the order page.

it`s a bit shady what clickbank does with the tracking . i had many clients that said that their cards where rejected by clickbank , so that can be a good reason

most likely the products you are promoting do not clearly show the price in which the product is. That makes me scroll down quick click the order form and then see what the cost is. That or they believe its a free product and click on it and see it is not and back out. Those are the 2 main things that will drop your conversions to a low percent. Other then that it really means nothing

I always have a lot of order submits that do not turn into sales, my thought on this is people clickbank order without even entering cc information or entering fake information seeing if it will go through.

That is about typical for most Clickbank products. Their order page really sucks.

You can improve the order form impression to order form submission conversion rate by making the background color of your vendor site that weird Clickbank blue. That nearly doubles the order form impression to order form submission conversion rate.

Of course then you are stuck with that weird blue. Check out FatBurningFurnace.com for an example of the blue I'm talking about. Click their order button and see how it seems more seamless than coming from another color.

Now look at the really sleazy thing that Clickbank does. Where the heck did that header graphic come from? How about the product picture?

If you are a Clickbank vendor, then you may be thinking... "Hey... I want wanna those!" That would really improve the order form impression to order form submission conversion rate. How do I set that up?

First, yep... it would double your conversion rate if you could set that up. Now you are up to four times the order form impression to order form submission rate. Instead of having 19 out of 20 people abandon the order form, you now only have 16 out of 19 abandoning it because it it just so awful from a marketing perspective.

So, of course you want that header graphic and product graphic. Where do you go to set that up?

    YOU CAN'T!!!

Clickbank only offers that to their lovers or their in-laws or whoever pays them under the table or whatever.

They will refuse to offer it to you. Yeah; it's not fair. Yeah; it means you can't possibly compete with those who have Clickbank's under the table deal. So what. That is the way the game is played.

So stop complaining about Clickbank's crooked tracking. There is probably nothing wrong with their tracking system.

But it is a fact that they offer their favorites an unfair competitive advantage with that header and product picture. They won't let you or me do that.

Here's what I am seeing from PPC Traffic ---> 2010-01-27_0839 <--- Jing Screenshot Link

It's a little higher than Steve's (The OP) with about the same amount of hops.

And I do agree it could be higher.

I wonder if they actually test that page. (i doubt it though bc it looks the same all the time.)

Also keep in mind that in the IM niche, many people know how to replace the original affiliate's cookie with their own, so I would imagine that effects our conversions as well
since we ultimately lose those sales.

    Something worth thinking about.

I stopped using CB because of their order form issues; for most niches I can pay someone $500-$1000 to create a product and then I just sell it through paypal

Also keep in mind that without having data from other shopping cart solutions
like 1 Shopping Cart, Infusionsoft, PayDotCom, NanaCast, UltraCart, and whoever
else is out there, it's not fair to say whether Clickbank's conversion rate is good or bad.

FYI - ClickBank's order form customization is only available to Premier clients that ask for it. I just found this out because I asked for it.

I am pretty sure the customization is limited to your product description and maybe an image.

But their actual form itself and their submit button is what could use some testing.

I wonder if anyone has any stats from when their colors were blue instead of the new red.

Would be helpful to see if there is a difference between the 2.

IMHO - blue probably converted better.

Nope, they have a new feature that allows merchants to customize the actual order form with a header, footer, and top corner images in addition to the product image and description. This is a new thing.

And I just spoke to my rep again and he said it's actually available to all merchants right now, you just have to ask. This is what he sent me:

That is really cool. Thanks for showing us

And while those customization options can help boost conversions, I still believe
the biggest difference can be made in their actual form and submit button that
          they never seem to test.

Yes, they tested that too some time ago they just don't allow us to change it (which I understand). This current version is a result of those tests, apparently.

I just contact Clickbank about customizing my order form as seen above and they said they haven't rolled it out sitewide yet.

doesnt compare at all. I myself promote hundreds of products, for example using CBProads. That's why my averages are all over the place. Use a banner rotator or similar and you would have hundreds of products with 0%.

But for my main promoted products (which is only a hand full) i have a 75%, then 70%, then 50%, 33% order form/sales conv. rate....and this is what counts.

Formatting your page as stated above will help out a lot. I was at around 14% and jumped to just under 20% after I made it match my sites.

Now THAT order page will sure get a lot of clicks without purchase.
      We're just messing their statistics.

Sounds about right I have been noticing the same problems lately. Prob their card is getting rejected, not enough money in their bank account, or the product is more than they want to pay.

Presell the offer better and include the price in your Presell. You may not get as many Order Form hops but your conversion rate will be alot better, as your referrers will already know the price and wont be click happy.
