1 or 2 Input Optin Forms

Has anyone tested asking for name and email address vs. just asking for the users email address. Is there a significantly higher optin rate?

I always go for name and email address so i can personalize each email i send out, but would also like to find out what results people may get by just asking for an email addy!

Just email address outperforms name+email in every test I've run, however personalisation of the subject line outperforms no personalisation in every test I've run (I've seen other folk have the opposite result).

Which leaves us with the only sane conclusion..

Test for your own circumstances, it's the only way.

Ye, I'm pretty sure that, you using just a single email opt-in will increase your opt-in rate by at least 10-15% at the minimum, it has done for me in my last few test. But I guess as everyone says you could try for yourself.

    Hope this helps!

I have experienced a higher opt-in rate when just asking for an email address. However, the quality of the prospects was lower (in terms of conversion). This of course will differ from industry to industry, so testing is the only answer.
