Tagging the Delicious One....

Since tags on Delicious are space separated each word appears as an individual tag so when you tag on Delicious and have a keyword phrase such as stop acne now do you....

~ write it as stop acne now and have 3 different tags

~ run it all together stopacnenow

~ use dashes stop-acne-now

~ use underscores stop_acne_now

~ avoid the use of keyword phrases.

Also are these tags mainly for the main Delicious site or do they also show up in the search engines?

Thanks!

I haven't found DELICIOUS to be effective for getting any of your pages in search engines at all. It is more of a personal bookmarking system of sites you want to keep record of for your own use. So, however you use tags when bookmarking a site on Delicious, is pretty much a personal choice between the options you gave.

    Thanks for your response....

I am actually using it to create an authority bookmark to import to other bookmarking sites ( thanks to Lisaann who shared this method) so wanted to use the tags the most effective way.

There are two rules of thought on this. stopacnenow is hard to see with the human eyes. Search engines and eyeballs understand stop-acne-now, both in URLs and content, better than they do with all the words together (general rule, but not always true).

To what extent it helps in tags is debatable, and in many cases doesn't really matter, from what I can tell with all the times I've used Delicious. If it matters on other sites that don't allow spaces between tags, I have yet to see that it makes any difference.
