What Was Your Biggest Accomplishment of 2009?

Thanks to Jared, we have the "Biggest Fails of 2009" thread, so I was wondering -- on a more positive note, what has been your biggest or greatest accomplishment this year?

I actually have two --

The first is publishing my book and getting rave reviews on Amazon.com for it. I poured my heart and soul and everything I know about marketing into that book, and seeing those fantastic reviews and how the information helped other marketers is just incredible!

The second is getting published on Copyblogger and becoming a regular contributor there. It was one of my business goals last year to write for them, and now I'm working on new articles on a fairly regular basis and I love connecting with the readers there!

How about you? What accomplishments did you have this year?

Well done for publishing your book on Amazon.

My biggest accomplishment back in May was to stop smoking. That led to me building a blog and making some money from it. The money saved from stopping bought me a laptop that I can make videos on etc. I now rarely use my main computer because it's more comfortable to sit on my sofa and use my laptop - except for my cat getting jealous.

Stopping smoking improved my circulation so I can type more now that I am not suffering as much from the excruciating pain of Reynards disease when my fingers get cold. That means I get more work done, more work more brass.

The only negative thing is that I've put some weight on but I might just build a blog about using my Wii Fit in the new year.

I posted in Jared's thread so I may as well dip my toe in here too! My biggest accomplishment this year was finding a little keyword phrase perfectly suited to my knowledge and passion, dashing off an ebook on the topic, slapping up a sales page and starting to promote it - all within one day (hey, I was inspired about it so it didn't feel like work at all) - and having it take off like a shot! Immediate sales that have steadily been increasing ever since.

This probably doesn't sound like a big deal to most people who will read this, but to me it was huge because before that I had always managed to make the whole process seem really difficult in my own mind, taking weeks and months to finish the ebook, agonizing over the sales page copy, setting up the site, promoting it...it all seemed like a major undertaking and progress was really slow (or seemed slow to me).

And then in one little moment of creative inspiration I accomplished more than I had with all of the other projects I've taken on before. That experience taught me that it doesn't HAVE to be hard!

In 2010 I'll be following my creative intuition much more closely, and taking action daily like I mentioned in Jared's failure thread. It's going to be an exciting year!

@Patricia - Congratulations on stopping smoking! That's quite an accomplishment I will warn you though - the Wii Fit is addictive, but it's a good kind of addiction.

@Joe - Congratulations on the little one!

@Wendy - Isn't it awesome when you finally find YOUR niche? I think I've found mine too, and this coming year, I'm going to not just dip a toe - but LEAP into it, and if I do a bellyflop, so what, right?

Keep sharing your amazing stories here Even if you feel like you didn't accomplish "anything" in 2009, you can really surprise yourself but what you've done!

  • I actually took my writing to the next level - into product creation. WOW, did that ever work out great. But, I had to overcome a lot of laziness to get it done. It is hard doing something, not knowing if it is going to pay off in the end.

    Hi

    Great idea for a post...

I quit my job this year to work for myself online

Something I had hoped to achieve by the end of this year yet I did it 6 months ago with some guidance and a push from Alex Jeffreys ( My mentor at the time )

Best thing I ever did !

All I say is I'm SERIOUSLY excited for 2010 !!

    Bring it on lol !

My biggest accomplishment was non-IM, like others here - I started a Transition Initiative in my town and am continuing to drive it forward as we get traction.

From an IM point of view, I cracked the net income level I need to pay my expenses and have some left over - finally. Now I need to make sure I have enough different income streams that if one dies I am not back at square one, as well as keeping things trending upwards.

Oh, and my oldest site cracked the 1000 visitors a day mark too!

I'd say my very biggest accomplishment of 2009 was saving myself from homelessness. Got kicked out of my apartment for a reason which I'm still not sure of. Finding a new apartment was going to be hard. But I got up, thought fast and found a little cabin in Forest Grove! all utilities included! Thank the LORD LOL!

Getting over my stupidity and moving on to transform myself to be engineered for guaranteed success.

Also in 2010 I'm hoping this answer will be the same as yours.

      Getting published with rave reviews.

      Thanks

    Hey Sherice,

Great idea, nice transition from my "Funniest Bloopers" thread to your "Awards Show" thread.

Congrats again on your book & working with Copyblogger, that's awesome!

Here's my biggest accomplishment of 2009:

I wrote a serious business plan right around this same time of year back in 2008, stuck with the plan throughout the entire year, and I am now finished. Ahhh, such a relief/feeling of accomplishment!

I'm now at the launch phase of a brand new project that has taken a year to develop and couldn't be happier!

Don't give up people, good things take time.

My biggest accomplishment has been...nothing as of yet! I've been creating a plan of action (I guess that could count as one.) But hey, there's still a few days left =p

I think the biggest accomplishment for me in 2009 was towards the end of the year(more ike within the past few weeks) I have decided to get together a plan for what I want to do in the new year, research and study everything in that plan, and get a war room membership to further my study in depth.
