Conversion Rates: WSO vs Other Traffic

Could anyone share their experience with the relative conversion rates between traffic coming from WSOs vs traffic coming from PPC, JVs, etc? My first thought would be that a WSO would convert better, but I'd like to hear from people who might have actually measured.

A WSO makes up less than 10% of my overall income, my other methods bring in over 90% more sales.

With that said, I'm very happy with a 10% increase so I won't be dropping my WSO's anytime soon, 10% growth is a good ROI

Remember, a WSO must include a significant discount vs. what you offer the general public. So right there you introduce a variable that makes any discussion about this apples and oranges. You can't really draw meaningful conclusions in a comparison unless all the variables remain the same.

Having said that, the niche matters, all other things being equal. If your offer is in the IM area, your WSO traffic will convert better because that's who's hanging around this forum. If you're selling an ebook about gardening, eh, not so much.

I realize that I can't draw any conclusive answers, but even anecdotal results would be interesting. I was hoping to hear from a Warrior that ran a WSO for a product and then later had someone send an offer out to their list, or pushed PPC traffic to the same landing page, something like that.

WSOs are one of the worst converting methods compared to any that have a proper relationship with the audience (i.e email advertising, JVs etc.) but better than methods with low/no relationship - however there's a very limited market for a WSO compared to other things like PPC where you have 1000 times more people to sell to.

I only use WSOs to get initial feedback and testimonials for new products although I've sold a few hundred of some WSOs, I don't do them often - most sales come from outside the forum.

Also since WSOs have to be offered at a better rate than elsewhere - it doesn't make financial sense to focus on selling in WSOs either.
