Adult sites and article marketing

Hello Warriors,

I am just about to start working on my adult site selling erm toys and stuff. I made good money at this in the past but got let down (excuse the pun) by my supplier so now I am taking a different angle.

Does article marketing work in the adult niche?

If not then thats fine because I have othe rplans but this would be definiately interesting way of promoting

Cheers

Danny

PS I know this market is competitive and to be honest I like the challenges

Not sure Am works well in ADULT niche or not but..

Recently I came upon a THREAD in another forum where the OP shared a unique method to make money in ADULT niche with Youtube.

He simply spammed the COMMENT section with a link to his site. Well I'm not suggesting you to follow his method exactly but hope you get the idea.

Edit: He made 1k plus by doing this "DIRTY" stuff only

    My 2c..

Article marketing will work with almost anything. You should gear your article topics towards adult subjects. For example, you can talk about male enhancement, etc. You will definitely get interested readers and you can easily market your product by recommending it to readers.
      Good luck!

Danny, initially I would really try videos. I see that videos work pretty well for products that are well... ahm. stimulating?

I would say try 1 or 2 vids distribute them manually or by traffic geyser.

Danny, you're going to have one hell of a hard time with any traditional
advertising model in the adult niche. You can't use Adwords, most article
directories won't allow articles on the subject, Squidoo is out as is YouTube,
and just about any other web 2.0 site I know of.

I suggest you get a hold of an expert in the adult niche and find out how
they do it. I got into it briefly about the time I first got on AOL but I knew
so little about marketing back then that I got very little business.

    Thanks for the honesty.

I already have the domain names have had them for over 6 years now so maybe I will just do good seo and and just keep adding content in my spare time if I make sales I do if I dont I dont.

I made the money using offline advertising last time so that maybe the way to go again. Going out drinking with domain name on T shirts worked well and yong girls seemed to lap this stuff up....lol

I will keep you all updated!

    Thanks

Danny, there is one thing that you CAN do and I just thought of it.

If you have a really killer site, submit it to thehun.net.

Give them a free page with some thumbs and link that page to your offer.

You'll get a nice surge of traffic in one day. When I did it, I got 14,000
visitors my first day. Unfortunately, I didn't have a great offer at the time
and knew nothing about monetization. Hell, I didn't even have a PayPal
account. I was taking checks at a PO Box.

Anyway, when you have something good to submit, do it.

      It WILL help a lot.

Make a page and submit it to them for inclusion. It's not easy to get in,
but if you do, it's a great kick start.

      Hey all,
Just thought I would way in and give my 2 cents, as I have an adult site or 2 that I market.

You can do article marketing for an adult'ish site but you have to be very creative. Do articles on dating and couples, or alternative lifestyle options, like being a Swinger! You can do topics on Improving your relationship with your partner, How to get back that spark in your marriage etc... Point is you have to think outside the box.

Videos can be a powerful tool. Posting non-nude videos on Youtube, Dailymotion etc... can help to drive a ton of traffic to your site. You can even do a video review of a particular product, just keep it PG-13
Then of course there are the actual adult tube sites. You can get videos from any of the Adult Affiliate programs out there in their resources or free content section. Watermarking them with your URL can get you some added traffic but does not do much in the way of SEO for your site.

Organic traffic is great of you can get it. Ranking high for Adult Keywords and Phrases can be very challenging unless you go for an underdeveloped niche of some sort. I made a lot of money by targeting "Men in Uniforms" a few years back. The niche is pretty saturated now but back then it was a real money machine.

Getting lots of related backlinks will help with your sites PR and Keyword ranking but finding adult related backlinks is a lot more difficult than for a Vanilla site. I have found a few services that do Adult directory submissions, as well as finding sites that allow you to put your link on their site in exchange for one of theirs on yours.

Although plenty of folks out here are going to bash me for saying this, but I have also used regular backlink resources for dropping in my adult link. Using the Angela and Paul type sights to get backlinks works for more than you would think. Some get dropped or unapproved but plenty make it through and provide some high PR backlinks to your site.

Another thing to do is sign up for as many of the adult webmaster forums as you can. There are a ton of them out there, With Ynot and Netpond and XNations are a couple of the bigger, more respected boards. Cozycampus is another great resource for Adult Webmasters and marketers.

There are a number of places where you can buy adult traffic. This traffic is coming from expired domains, click-thrus and pop ups. I would not advise using any of these services. The traffic is not focused and 99.9% of the clickers are looking for free stuff so it is really low quality traffic.

I know this does not cover all the marketing options out there and leaves out a few I have not worked with like TGP's and Galleries. Marketing in the Adult niche forces you to be constantly asking your self, "What else can I be doing to promote my site or drive traffic". You need to think outside the box and get creative.

      Best to All,
      Robert

I considered doing similar a couple of weeks back and considered all the options, but a name is really important and I didn't realy want it flooded out with just men who are looking to score but a proper forum, with women too...(am I imagining those??!)

The logistics are enormous though, it is still an idea I would do but it is very much on the back burner as I have a couple of big projects in the works

I have seen on at least one of the article sites (don't remember which) a lot of articles that were adult products reviews. So it is something that is already being done.

I'd search around the different article sites and see who allows what and what you can get away with. I don't see why an article review of the rabbit would be any more offensive then an article on how to give a BJ, which the article sites are packed with.

And like was stated above, much of what works for non-adult SEO works for adult. The only difference is the product you are selling. If you don't mind leaving your adult links in a profile at christianmothers.com then go for it. Redtube is a good example of an adult site that has made extensive use of blog commenting for backlinks.

The only problem with getting into the TGP game and submitting to sites like The Hun is the traffic you get will be worthless since they are looking for porn not toys. Plus, your dipping into porn territory and TGP's are a marketing game unto themselves... it's a dying business model anyway. Tube sites are all the rage now.

You're probably best to stay clear of porn and market your site as if you were selling toasters.

Being adult related you'll find that a lot of doors are closed so you have to think out-side of the box on how to get around those obstacles. I added a trick to this thread the other day...

    http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...nk-tactic.html

It's a sneaky trick that comes in very handy when you are dealing with a site containing less acceptable content. Since you already have your domain you can use this technique starting today.

Aside from that... adult is a huge pain in the rear but it does sharpen your SEO skills. You can't just outsource your SEO work and call yourself a webmaster.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to promote your site with articles or videos on YouTube, although you'll probably have to send your traffic to a landing page and not directly to the site (probably better if it's on a separate domain). Just write articles on sexuality. etc and they should be easily accepted - it's not like you're submitting hardcore stories...

I'd love to explore the adult niche more. I've seen that some of my pages in vaguely "sexy" niches get GIGANTIC traffic!

There seem to be huge numbers of photo sites and stuff, but not a huge amount of top quality original written content.

If I had to market a product in this niche I would find some sexy sub-niches, of which there are millions.

BTW anyone who wants inspiration in this niche should check out a site like stickmanbangkok - the site isn't that explicit but I've spent whole days reading the reader's submissions!

If you haven't already in the past, don't even bother. The adult internet is in absolute shambles right now. Many companies that were big just 3 years ago are now going out of business and adult affiliate webmasters are coming over onto the clean side of things. It's a mess in that segment due to the economy, piracy and all of the free video sites that have sprung up.

Let me put it to you this way. I saw a guy complaining the other day about having 500,000 uniques a day and doing only 3 sales a day (which is $75-$90 total assuming $25 or $30 PPS). Yes, there is massive traffic in adult, but it doesn't buy at the same rate as "clean" traffic.

I don't have experience with the adult niche but i have plenty with article marketing. It will work if you can find a decent directory that allows it. It certainly works in sexual health niches.

I think you are going to find this to be a tough nut to crack...

We are very careful with the adult content we distribute, because our publishers can be very touchy about what content they want us to offer to them...

We are not willing to sacrifice any percentage of our distribution list to satisfy ONE AUTHOR's articles...

If you are going to be discussing penis health, you had better be doing it from a professional health care perspective, or we won't do your articles...

If you are going to be doing sexual aids, it had better be done in really good taste...

In both cases, we will seek feedback from members of our publisher community before we accept the job order...

I am not going to sacrifice my mailing lists to serve your needs, if in the end it diminishes my reach...

I think article marketing will work on your business as there are already lots of business owners who use this for their adult sites. But as suggested above, better check your competition on how they write their articles and where they post it.

What I can suggest is if to get a good writer who will write it in any case you chose not to write them on your own. I read some of the articles for this type of business and I think the writer is not that comfortable writing them and losing the articles’ value.

Articles still definitely help to give you backlinks, however many article directories won't accept adult content, especially if your site has porn on it. Here are some article directories which specifically focus on adult that you might want to try. They are dofollow too, which is always a plus:
