Hi,

Just a general question of interest really.

How does wordpress make its money?

I know wordpress is an open source project and that there are hundreds and perhaps thousands of people contributing to it.

But who pays for the infrastructure costs and various other likely costs?

Do they generate an income to help pay for all this?

I am just curious about how these kinds of open source projects get financed, if at all.

I suppose the next logical question is how they manage to create such great word of mouth so quickly, apart from the fact that the program is free to use. (There are lots of other free programs which almost never see the light of day).

Can anyone shed any light on these question?

    Interesting article. The adsense point got me wondering because I never saw Adsense on the free accounts, but then again, I was always using Firefox.
