You are the second or third person asking this.

Answer: wait until you are in January (to be safe)

I've been thinking about this myself. Actually I have set up a plan for a new project for 2010 and as part of my annual decluttering and settling old issues, I decided to clean out the huge PLR article folder that I have been building over the years and thought that I would put them up for sale on Boxing Day -- a year end clearance sort of thing...so after a lot of thought on this, I figured that some things would be okay to launch this time of the year...like the dormant but excellent PLR files I have written.

Wait . I have been making myself wait . I know it is hard to but it will be worth it .

Think about launching a list builder now . Might give you a few more people to actually launch to come real launch time .

I actually have a launch planned for a WSO the day after Christmas... I don't think it'll be a big deal as the thread is still gonna be there come January 1st...

People don't normally buy stuff like this around the holidays. Sales on the Internet tend to be down across all channels from my experience because it seems like people do Christmas shopping at the mall rather than spending time in front of the computer.

I just did an emergency discounted sale on my products and I must tell you I got so many canned out-of-office and vacation responses, it's crazy.

Wait till after the first week of January

I am going to be running my first WSO but am waiting until mid january after everyone:

    1. gets out of the holiday mode
    2. has had some time to either recover monetarily from the holiday season or accept that their credit cards are over used.

      Here's a thought for you.

People visit family during the holidays. So that means they probably wont have access to the computer they always work on, so its likely they wont buy your product because they wont be able to download it to their regular computer.

Another thought is people are just busy doing holiday things during the holiday.

Think about how much money is spent during the holidays...do you think they would be less likely to buy your product if they are low on cash(which people tend to be after the holidays).

It depends on what kind of product launch. Though generally speaking, it's better to wait until after the New Year. I've done product launches to my existing lists during this time of year and it's worked out pretty well.

Actually, that counter is quite stupid and can be easily bypassed.

I guess I'm wondering though, if you have a WSO, and you launch it over the holidays... it's still going to be there when the rush hits. So since this is a first product for me, isn't it just as effective to launch now (because I'm not depending on any following or e-mail list being in town)? Just a thought.

I have heard that the BEST time to launch a product is January 15th.....the idea behind that thinking is that people are in a mindset of pursuing New Year's resolutions. Besides that, they also probably have their first one or two checks in the bank, and would be more inclined to purchase.

Maybe it's better to wait, maybe not.

I'm the "launch when ready" type. You can always bump it again later...

As I write this it's almost 7pm EST on Dec. 23rd and there are "1074 Viewing" the WSO forum.

      Maybe you should wait?

I don't know, that looks pretty good to me. Perhaps we should keep track...

I launched a product yesterday but only sent it to my email list and made about 15 sales. Right now, most people are on vacation, out of the office, or don't want to get caught by the wife working when you should be with family!

Take the time now to make sure your copy is right, you have your marketing set up, and everything in place for a big launch in January.

      It depens on the topic.

During the holidays, if you are selling a report to the LONELY club who are at one with nothing to do then they will jump on such a report.

Also the dating niche is very hot around this time of year. People are always looking for a way to link up.

      Emotions are high

however if this is IM related then wait.

Does anyone here do "Hard" and "Soft" Launches of their products?

I good friend had thrown that terminology out at me a few days ago (it had actually been the first time I had heard those words used before....)....in regards to launching my own product....

I guess a "Soft" launch is when you just subtly releasing it almost passively through some channels you have established, and, a "Hard" launch is supposedly when you hit bloggers and guest posts/mailing list hard....

        Does anyone do this?

Never heard of this terminology, but what I do is I simply e-mail to my lists. I don't aggressively seek JV's

A soft launch is when you launch it to a smaller audience to test the product. Once you get some feedback, you correct or improve whatever it is, then do a hard launch to the public.

I suppose it's similar to a "beta" release, but the term beta is mostly used with software and online applications.
