    Hi Azhan,

Are you going to be putting a direct domain name to the folder?

if yes you can simply redirect the domain name to the folder i.e. http://yoursite.com/foldername this will allow for the domain name to be masked by a frame. if no. then the subdomain is already in place a domain with a folder extension is a subdomain if you were to enter it as a subdomain it would go something like foldername.yoursite.com I use the first method forwarding with mask

    Hi,

Good answers so far. However, I'm a little confused (so what else is new) by the problem.

A domain and a sub domain are two different animals.

A domain would not be a subdomain under any circumstances unless you just wanted to use the word or phrase in an existing domain as a subdomain. That would have nothing to do except in name only with the domain.

For instance. YourSite . com is a domain. Now you can put anything in front of that as a subdomain. I.E. WarriorForum . Your Site . com. (don't do it )

All real domain names need to have their own "domain" whether you create that domain as a separate hosting account or a add on.

Subdomains are folders in the original domain. Thus they are called "sub" domains.

    I think.

George Wright, P.S. Many today don't even think in terms of add on domains as we have so called reseller accounts where we can host as many domains as we want to. I don't like add on domains because even though on the outside the look and act just like a domain they still exist as a folder on the main domain and you (at least I) can't ftp to them unless I ftp login to the main domain then go to the add on domain folder. No biggie, I just don't like it.

Yes George the domain has to be the root. anything after that is the sub.

but you can mask that sub by masking a domain name pointing to it of course it will still show in the address bar but ....oh well can't win em all.

Use add-on domain to add domains to your hostgator account.
