First product in ClickBank - any tips? Plus 1 Question...

Hi all,

I've just set up my first product in ClickBank (which is now activated)
and I'm wondering:

What do I provide an affiliate with, in order to sell my product?

Do I just give them my sales page or is there some code that I
should provide them with?

Any help, tips and hints are greatly appreciated
Jose

Banners of all different sizes, articles, emails, solo ads, and anything else you can come up with. The more tools you give them the better chance they will sell the product for you.

        Jose,

Are you asking how to give affiliates their affiliate link ?

If they find your product in the Marketplace there is a Create Hoplink option.

Otherwise you can give them a Join My Affiliate Program (JMAP) link explained here

But the best "affiliate page" in the world won't interest me if the product and/or sales page are no good or if there's a vendor's opt-in there
        This isn't true.

        It's a MAJOR thing.

You need to provide as much as you for your affiliates... emails/content/swipes/banners.. including BONUSES (and more exclusive ones for the bigger JV's)... if you really want to do WELL as a product vendor.

Affiliates will also appreciate you for this.

        Best,

          Thanks again guys.

Glassjaw009 - I like the 100% for the first sale. Do you know if this is something that can be automatically set up in ClickBank?

            Hey,

I'm speaking for solely an affiliate perspective, and I can tell you that I've promoted multiple products that have done this in the past. I don't know how to implement the 100% for first sale thing, however, I know that it HAS been done.

I know this isn't much help. Sorry

    Keyword ideas are cool.

Not neccessary keywords, but an overview of what type of markets that this product is aiming for. What type of situations a person will find themself in when they consider buying.

Also a mention of the product would be cool. Always fun to help a fellow warrior!

      Wow... I love this place...

Thank you all for ALL this feedback - I'm a much wiser man than I was 10 minutes ago!

I learned something in each post.

      * Thanks Alexa for that clever reverse psychology
      * Thanks Harvey for figuring out what I was trying to ask in the first place

If you want to attract new affiliates fast, give them 100% of the earnings for their first sale referred. Generally, people will only stop promoting an item if they DON'T do a sale with it. Having the incentive to draw them in to promoting your product ensures they'll stick around longer, thus do a sale, thus stay with you.

        Hope this helps.

I'd agree with Adeel on the fact that you should provide as much ammunition for potential affiliates as possible.

If you are looking for JV partners then you seriously need to know your numbers i.e. what the sales page conversion figures are. Make a decent number of sales from your own efforts first and you will then have the numbers to give to potential JV partners.

This is an excellent and fast way to make sales. If you want to know how to attract JV partners my sig will help you with that.

You definitely need to make as much stuff available to affiliates as possible.

    - Keyword lists
    - Sample PPC ads
    - Articles they can post
    - Hoplink creation (maybe even offer to HOST a cloaked hoplink for people on your site using PHP redirect).

Also ... I find that using a 2-step order form works really well. See my signature.

Yeah dude, if your product is already listed in the clickbank marketplace you don't have to give your affiliates anything. Now what you need to do is recruit some affiliates to sell for you. Best done through most of the things already mentioned here (Alexa hit the nail on the head....once again).

If you haven't already, you might want to check out the JV section here for affiliates; put up a post about your product and see if you can find some affiliates. Also, I agree that %100 of the first sale might entice a few, it really is only a few bucks and no biggie. However you could offer bonuses in terms of sales such as "the top 3 sellers for each month get a bonus" or "get a 50 dollar bonus if you sell 50 copies"...something like that should be a good incentive.

The biggest incentive for me as an affiliate though is what others have already said:
    - good product that converts
    - decent payout in terms of pecentage per sale / $ made per sale

Best of luck with your product!!

I like to see the great sales page but as above, banners, 3-4 email swipes are perfect. I built a program for our members (very new to CB) so they can copy/paste into safelists etc. But for that to work great email copy is essential.

If I pick a product I can then say to our members, go here, copy and paste away == > Make Money!

    1-2-3

For all of this to work for me I also need a nice easy to find Affiliate link or email form to get into the Affiliate program.

In other words, your BEST affiliates probably don't need all the bells and whistles because they already know their ****. This is something I suspected when I first released my product on the CB marketplace. I have a few tools up and I've never had an affiliate contact me asking for more things like banners, etc. I still plan to get some done eventually though.

I tend to think that the kind of affiliates who need their hand held through the whole process aren't going to make many sales.

BTW, did I see some affiliate links in sigs in this thread?

Thanks, I'm much more informed (and happier).

My original question was simply whether I needed to give a link of some sort to an affiliate in order for them to start promoting and (hopefully) selling my product.

I got much more than that back, most of which I didn't know, so bonus

It's evident from this discussion alone that the 'bells and whistles' versus the 'raw' (or lazy) way of doing things is purely objective: some prefer one way, others the other.

In the same way, I imagine the top 20% best performing affiliates will be a mirror image of this, on a smaller scale: they'll also have their own opinions - some will prefer the bells and whistles and others will prefer to have control of their own doings.

Since I don't have to offer anything to please the self-doers, I'll offer the bells and whistles (eventually) to try and attract enough affiliates to be able to work out who that top 20% is in the first place

      Happy Holidays all
      Jose

I think one of the best things you can do to help affiliates is to create a product in a hungry niche where people buy and then make your salesletter convert like crazy. After that... give your affiliates some honest real-life statistics about your conversion rates and then add all the other help articles, autoresponder series and banners.

Affiliates will LOVE you if your product converts like crazy! They will love you more for that than for giving them 100% commission on a first sale.
