If the FTC sent Christmas cards, here's what they might say:

Merry Christmas*

* Results not typical. Average Christmas participant experiences 1.39 hours of actual merriment.

Of course other lawyers might recommend the card say:

"Happy non-denominational period of celebration."

Regardless of how you're supposed to say it, here's my version:

Merry Christmas! I hope you and your family and friends have a great time.

I really appreciate the fact that you're my subscriber, and if you're a customer then I really REALLY appreciate it!

Thanks for making 2009 a great year. Let's work together and make 2010 an even better one.

    I think that was stupid. It makes a mockery of what the FTC of the point that's trying to be put across. Bottom line is there is an issue that needs to be addressed with marketers, particularly "ONLINE". And it has to deal with Truth-In-Advertising.

    It's easy to say, obviously, that not "everyone" is at fault. Regardless, there is an issue, and it's deeper than "not meeting "typical" results.

    Bottom line, when you are selling something you need to first ask yourself,

    Would you sell this to your mother/father?
    And would your mother/father benefit from it like you have?

    Because hell, I don't see anyone selling anything to Santa Claus.....
