Ezinearticles getting into the most viewed section...

In regards to getting into the most viewed section it says "most viewed articles in the last 60 days"

So does that mean my article only has a chance at getting into the most viewed in its first 60 days of being published?

Or can i have an article thats been on ezine for a few months but say i drive a ton of traffic to it in the next 60 days will it still show up in the most viewed section or is it only articles that are brand new and have 60 days from the time of publishing that can get into the section?

Try going to eza and opening all of the links for every article in the most viewed section. Then scroll down to the bottom and see the date that they were published.

I've had articles that were on the list and had lots of views but as soon as they were 61 days old, they were no longer on the most viewed list.

Yeah that is nice of them to help chris with his adsense ads ...

First and foremost you should be working on your own site and building backlinks to your own site. Yeah some will say but I have a new site, so who cares.. You can get a brand new site ranked in google in no time at all, I have ranked and got top listings on the same day with a brand new domain name and I posted to no article directories to do it.

It is not as hard as people think and it does not take months to get indexed and listed. This is the information age and people want information now and thus many of the search engines where it used to take months to get listed, now have changed the way they work.

The search engines want that fresh new content and they will snatch up your site and index it as soon as possible. Especially if you build backlinks to your new site through bookmarks, press release, web 2.0 sites and etc..

Once you built up your site then feel free to send some traffic to your EZA Articles or your other articles on other sites..

Reverse cell seems like a very competitive niche and this kind of backlinking strategy makes sense in this instance.
Now just think if he built 40,000+ backlinks to his own site and not that article .. Just think of how many adsense ads would not have been clicked making someone else money. Building all those links directly back to his site would have made him more money by producing more sales and the visitor not being lost due to adsense ads...

      Hey Alexa,

EZA changed that some time back. Now the Most Viewed section is only for articles 60 days or younger. I assume it was to mix things up a bit and prevent the same articles from being listed through the end of time. Otherwise the one Phil mentioned with 2 million views would be number 1 in its category for sure. I know the article he means, and it's nowhere to be found in most viewed.

Plus I have one particular article with EZA that always gets more than 1000 views per month and it's not listed in the Most Viewed either. The article currently in the top spot for that category only has 180 views total.

Mike, well, that answers my question.
Any other directories still going the old way w/ 2mil+ views equal traffic or (AS ads for them) til the end of time?

There are only two benefits to getting on the most viewed section anyway....

One being internal backlinks which will give your article a boost in the SERPS.....

The other being residual traffic from others that bother to click on your article from another part of the site (your article will "seen" on every article in the category). This is probably negligible though and I would imagine that the CTR would be simply atrocious and not worth measuring.

Well, it is only conjecture and speculation but the more links you place on a page, the lower the CTR because of all the other choices available.

It is kind of like when you do media buys. Chances are good your CTR will hover around .40-.60% per 1,000 but if you are sharing ad space with another advertiser or there are other clearly defined outbound link, then your CTR will drop significantly.

Plus, the fact that it is below the fold and the visitor typically has 25+ links so close together to choose from, the CTR can't be great. I can say that will relative certainty.

Obviously, the biggest factor would be how well you construct the title of your article in comparison to the others and since most article marketers still write for the search engines rather than the reader, I imagine you could improve your click through's significantly.

Still, it is a link and I guess any funnel is a good funnel though..especially one that doesn't cost you anything.

For example if after 1,000 views you have a 30% click rate= 300 clicks,

when you get into the most viewed section and end up with 5,000 views, you might have 1,200 clicks so your rate dropped from 30% to 24%, but you still ended up with 900 extra clicks.

Though some of these will be other marketers and therefore not even worth it in that respect, a good majority of them will be REAL people who have scrolled down from an article they have just read that did not compel them to click on the resource box and look for another article to answer their question, satisfy curiosity, whatever.

They don't just click on the resource box or an Adsense ad. They scroll down.(the exception may be if you are in a marketer to marketer kind of niche)

You also don't have to manipulate traffic or build links to your articles to get in the most viewed section, either. I have never bought traffic or built links for my articles.

You just have to know how to make your article stand out.
I didn't realize I was going to get into a debate by stating my opinion, lol. I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying about CTR. I am not talking about the CTR from my article to a landing page or offer....I am talking about the CTR from someone else's article to my article.....

If you are saying that being in the most viewed category that you will accumulate 900 extra clicks to an article that got 5,000 views from the search engines, you would be saying that you are getting a CTR to your article (from theirs) of 10-20% which for many article marketers, would be the average CTR they get from their bio boxes.

There are other things at play here....you could be getting a boost in search engine rankings for other long tails...your article could have moved up simply from the internal links.

I have a hard time believing that you could have a high CTR (although most viewed does imply credibility giving it a boost) that rivals the CTR of a bio box with a strong call to action.

Then again, I could be wrong. I do know that the more links you put on any page, the less traffic each link will get.

      Slightly unethical...but

create a youtube video about highlights of a football match that has taken place that day. In the video just have a static relevant pic and put a message saying ''watch full highlights in HD quality) and point to your link in the sidebar
Only slightly unethical....why not make the anchor text "FREE BEER HERE!!"

OK I think I've got it. You steal the video, then lie about the content of the link. Yeah I've go that part but where do I get the free beer.

Right after you check out with Paypal you click on "return to merchant"... and wait

There actually is a CB product about making money drinking beer! I've been meaning to do a review on it just so I can use "FREE BEER" as a headline to some articles. I wonder if EZA will accept THAT?
