Can I Give away MODIFIED StudioPress Theme?

I am in the process of creating a new product and as one of the bonuses I want to give away a website template to support the use of my product...in this case, a modified studiopress theme.

I remember reading somewhere that it is ok to give these themes away if they are modified, you just cant charge money for them.

Can anyone back up or shoot down this statement?

Thanks!!! Merry Xmas everyone!! Woohoo!

Well there you go! I'd print that page out and take a screen shot just in case. I like to play it safe.

        Good point, Dennis !

It does seem very flexible, compared with other premium themes.

Go to the source and check the terms of use. Our opinion doesn't matter. What if someone gives you advice that is wrong and you believe it? Then you get sued, are you going to say, "But, so-and-so said I could."

...that's what I'd do anyway, I wouldn't want to rely on what anyone says except the copyright owner.

Looks like since it is under the GPL then it can be freely distributed once modified. No?
