Do you think videos like this could make your conversion rate go UP?

8 replies
I've been creating videos especially designed for landing pages and a lot of my clients reported higher conversions.

However I'm still surprised by low interest from publishers in this type of videos even though I think that the power of video is so easily accessible because of the high speeds of connections.

In my opinion the power of videos will be more and more utilized among publishers as they'll start realizing just how captivating can this media be.

My question is: If you are a publisher do you intend to test video on your squeeze pages/landing pages? What are you searching for in videos you'd be prepared to test?

By the way here is the latest video I created just to give you a taste of what do I have in mind:

And here is the link to youtube:

Good luck

    I test almost everyhting on my landing pages including not having a landing page. I would want to test various videos to see which would convert the best. One with light colors, and light music, one with happy music, one with no music. Things like that.

      Jose, I think your right that the power of videos when used on a squeeze page can have a dramatic effect on subscribers and sales. I have been testing no video and video squeeze pages on a few of my sites, alternating them every week for about 7 months now, and the video squeeze page in every case, brings in the best return.

      As far as your video demo's are concerned, the Andrew Kramer / Videopilot style of video production you have adopted is very impresive, the inclusion of moving background and foregrounds with sound effects is inovative and brillient.

      But............ for IM videos, I have found that the more simplistic you make the videos the better, as a video that is very busy in visual content, can just distract from the message you are trying to portray, and that's the important part......... Don't get me wrong, all these visual effects are great when used in the correct context, but not neccessary for IM videos ( IMHO)

      I also found through testing, that videos where I appear in person, have far better conversion rates, because the viewer can get to know you and your business better (even though I'm an old fart!) Imagine how much better it would be, if I was young and good looking like a lot of you guy's !

        Lee, thanks for this post.

        Yes, I've been studying Andrew ever since I saw the Product Launch Blueprint | Complete Formula for Launch Success | Home Study Course video which really made me go "WOW I need to learn to do this!"

        You got me thinking of somehow incorporating high quality production with in person videos like they did recently on: Stomping The Search Engines 2 (I don't know if this is an affiliate link because I got it in the mail...).

        Thank you again for the kind comments

          I agree with you Jose, the PLF video is very well structured, but having first seen the content months before, and the fact they used (copied) exactly the same layout and audio track as Andrew did in his original Promo, the effect was slightly diminished........ But still good though !

          Just to give you an idea of what I do that works extremely well for me, here is a short video, produced about 8 months ago that I used on my squeeze page:

          Lee Jones - Marketing Newsletter

          I have stripped out all the other content on the page, aprt from the video, as I don't want to be accused of spamming for subscribers, but it gives a good idea of what video content works for me!

          Part of a home study course coming out soon, shows exactly step by step how I produced this video with nothing more than a $32 webcam and some freely available video enhancement software, that anyone can use..

          I'ts not Hollywood, and i don't look like Brad Pitt, but it works very well for me to get subscribers to my list.

          If anyone is interested in the course, drop me a line and I will let you know when it's completed.

    This isn't specifically geared at you but the designer side of me has to come out eventually...

    <rant>
    What's with all these people buying Andrew's products and then using nothing but the templates, occasionally adding a few tiny modifications and linking various templates together? So lame IMO... all of the elements included are royalty free for a reason, to make your own designs.

    I will say that I find it entertaining when people say "Oh I have the best videos ever!" when they're nothing but premade templates - like it took them some sort of mad skill to edit the text, pre-compose compositions and align them in the timeline.
    </rant>

    Back to the topic... if done right, videos can increase conversions. The thing is in every market that I've tested video, as soon as there was an actual person in them, conversions went up. This may seem obvious but people don't watch videos to read... unless they're deaf of course.

      It may have been a rant in your view, but what your saying is very true, for a 19 year young, youv'e got your head on the right way....... couldn't have put it better!

        Dear Jose

        Videos definitely boost CR. I tested it with my own voice and screen-capture instructions.

        I agree with Lee, however I think that if you want to sell a top-notch service, you have to create custom videos for each site needs.

        I've seen some squeeze page video services selling "ready-made" vids you could upload to a landing page.

        This is something I won't like to have , otherwise, how could I make my site remarkable if everybody else is showing the same vids?

          How do you alternate between them? My hosting doesn't have any options.
          Hoping to test between a few squeeze pages!

          From the success stories that I have read, videos dramatically help out conversation as opposed to pages with only text or only images.
