Looking for direction

Hi Warriors,

I'm a newbie to IM although I've done my fair share of trawling the internet researching before I was lucky enough to find this forum.

I've tried hard not to make many purchases because I wanted to make sure I was buying the right material.

Like many people I've been caught in the headlights of the "I made a million overnight - with no investment and no work!" websites. And thought to myself a) that kind of opportunity cant exist? b) is this what IM is all about?

As time went by I thought IM might be about squeeze pages, pop overs, unbelievably great copy, giveaways and list building? But I'm still not really sure...

The more I read the more my head is spinning...which is absolutely not the right approach to IM. I know that much.

Are there any successful Warriors out there who would be willing to offer some direction?

Did you buy an ebook when you were a newbie that set you on the path to success?

Great advice and support would be very much appreciated.

Cheers Si

P.S. I'm a web designer so I do have some skills already. My SEO skills need a lot of work.

P.S.S If I can help anyone with web design, domains or hosting I will. PM me.

Best investment many of us will say we made was becoming a part of the War Room. One initial investment, a lifetime of valuable and fantastic information that WILL help you succeed in what you want to do.

If I had to tell you to buy anything, that would be it.

And a little tip, add a picture via your control panel if you plan on staying around here a while.

Analysis Paralysis. I know exactly where you're coming from. I will not claim to be an expert, but from what I have learned on this forum and elsewhere, the best advice I can give you is pick something and stick to it. Find anything that interests you, whether it be AdSense, CPA, what have you, and focus 100% on it. Analysis Paralysis happens because we ALLOW it to happen. If you focus on one thing and one thing only, it is no longer an issue.

Also, don't be afraid to fail! To be successful in any business you must take risks. IM is no different.

And I have to agree with Sean. Joining the War Room is a great investment. As long as you FOCUS and don't let yourself get stuck in...welll...Analysis Paralysis.

    Good luck .

Despite the hype, there is no "silver bullet". None of the courses, products, WSO's that I've bought have ever lived up to the hype. Never, not one. They sometimes do provide some value, but the hype exceeds deliverability consistently. It's the salesman's way, jaw-flapping BS...

Don't buy anything, except perhaps the "war room". Save your money for marketing instead.

The best route is to read these forums, use the search facility. Almost every IM question has already been asked and answered right here. You can get the answer at no cost.

FYI, whatever you plan to do, the main issue is traffic generation. The methods have already been discussed in this forum, don't buy any hyped solutions.

Here is the path to success. Study, pick some strategies, implement, stay focused, don't deviate, study the results, improve, optimize, repeat.

Stick to your plan, you'll get there....

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

    Hi Si,

I too was like you earlier on this year, I had all sorts of people telling me WHAT I should do but few people telling me the HOW which is the most important.

This guy here is, in my opinion, the best internet marketing trainer out there, he walks you through everthing baby step by baby step. Once you start to gain knowledge, you may find his instructions too basic but better that than it all going over your head eh?

It's only $27 each month forever and that includes all the FREE hosting you could want and it's first class, I guarantee you. I don't know where I would be today with my business if I hadn't been recommended this training.

    Check it out

    Hope it helps, Trish

Start off with signing up for the War Room, worth every penny.

Then hunt up the special offer by StevenR on his Super Simple Blogging. It is full of great advice for someone in your shoes.

There are many other great offers in the War Room, but you need to choose one, and just get after it.

Also, search for a post by Warrior Kenster called "The 100k Challenge". Read his post numerous times until what he is saying really sinks in. His "challenge" combined with picking just one method is going to be the best advice you could possibly have.

Don't get misled by the hype and glitz. Internet Marketing requires hard work initially, the marketers are not lying but they're only showing you the end result - where they've already put in all the blood, sweat, and tears, and are only showing you the happy ending!

The War Room here would be a good place to start and build relationships. More than buying any course or ebook, IF you could get mentoring from an IMer that you can trust, then I believe that would be your fastest and most direct route to success in this tangled, crazy arena. If not, stick around here, observe, learn, and build relationships. MOST importantly, once you've learned something, do not get stuck in 'paralysis of analysis', and take action! Without action you'll never see results of any kind, regardless of what kind of course, ebook, or mentoring you've gone through!

You got to do a lot of hard work as far as Internet Marketing is concerned!
Do not allow anybody to deceive you that it is an easy task.

My best advice for you is to stick for at least 3months on a particular
section of this forum, which will be of great help to you. War Room can
make you millions if you stay there consistently.

    Cheers.

Well that's a lie... It can tell you how to make millions but if you just stay there and keep watching it then nothing will happen.

To the OP, stay away from forums, give your self x amount of time per day to catch up on whats what and that is it. I check here a lot, even though it isn't good for me I still do it, so stay away from forums etc... The only way you will actually make money online is by sitting there and taking action on what you already know.

If you want to succeed at this, designate your self x amount of hours per day and then work during them hours. That means, no forums, no tv, no games, no email, no instant messenger etc... Staying focused is the only hard thing in IM, if you can remain focused for fixxed period of time then it is just a matter of time before money will come. (Its hard to stay focused, im struggling with it now )

Nothing is easy, never seen a product that will make money fly out of the computer. I can only share what has worked for me. Find one product or Internet based company that you believe in. Work hard learning all the aspects of IM, brand yourself as a leader in your industry and also find yourself a great mentor.

Good luck in 2010 my friends !!!

        Thanks to everyone who responded.

I'm already a member of the War Room so I'll be setting aside some time to do some detailed research.

I've added a photo of myself - of sorts - because I do intend to be here for a while.

If anyone can share any more detailed experiences other than 'pick one thing and stick to it'.

        That would be great!

Happy New Year to you too!

I'm great thanks! Learning every day but whether it's quickly remains to be seen.

Although one thing you do learn very quickly on this forum is that you won't get anywhere in IM if you're not focused.

      Si.

Here is what IM is about: hard work.

I think the more gurus make this clear in their sales letters, the more disheartened newbies we will have

I think the biggest hurdle for newbies is the 'kid in a candy store' feeling.

When you're completely green to IM you actually don't know which method of generating income to choose.

I'm quite lucky because I come with some skills (web designer) but if you've never even put up a website it's a hell of a learning curve and it could be a long time before you see a return on any investment.

In my naivety when I put this post up I was hoping an experienced IMer might describe the different methods of generating income i.e. "There are 10 different methods you can choose to generate income:

      1. Gives you the biggest return but requires the biggest investment
      2. Is for big one off returns
      3. Is for long term income
      etc...

Then you can make an informed decision. The not knowing coupled with being sold to at every turn can make your head spin. You find yourself reading endless posts, watching countless videos and subscribing to numerous lists just to get little morsels of information from the master's tables.

I'm not ashamed to say that so far my return on investment (time) is zero and my hourly rate is less than 3rd world but I don't care because I love this stuff.

I know it is out there somewhere I just need to keep digging until I find it.

My 2 tips to anyone newer to this than me:

      • DON'T pick something you are interested in pick something you're GOOD at!
      • Treat this like a business - make a plan, set goals, record income and expenditure

      Hope this helps someone.

      Si.

    ultraburner,

You are a web Designer? then you need not look for directions any longer.

Why not start a video training on website designing? What software do you use?
It is possible somebody is out there waiting for you to pass on that knowledge to them.

That to me is what Internet Marketing is: Meeting somebody's need. it is not until we all start selling how to make money online stuffs

    have a GREAT 2010 man

I would recommend the War Room as well. Endless, literally endless, supply of good information. In fact, this forum alone is all you would need to get a handle on a good direction. With you skills, you could pick a niche and outsource or write a product and then create a WSO. I just purchased a product that had a great graphics package. I know those are popular so that might be a direction to go in.
