what is the best style of payment processing for upsells and residual enrollment?

can clickbank do this?
should you have your own shopping cart and merchant?

To use Clickbank's one-click upsell feature you have to have made 5,000 sales minimum and under 10% refunds on your total sales.

You can still do upsell's though with Clickbank by taking them to other sales pages after they have ordered, but your customers have to keep entering their credit card details in for each product, which lowers conversions.

As for repeat/continuity payments I do believe Clickbank are reliable.

It all comes down to flexibility. With your own merchant account, you have more control and more options. We have our own merchant account with our local bank, using PayPal's Payflow Pro Gateway (which used to be Verisign) for $59 p/mo. We use their recurring payment system for our monthly membership fee, which costs an additional $29 per month. This way, we don't need to worry about all the restrictions otherwise placed by someone like Clickbank, or even PayPal (when using their regular payment system).

wow, i did not realize it was such a hassle just to accept money from folks, this is my first product, so im kind of confused about this payment processing deal

where would you start for your first product?

clickbank has some crazy regulations, i think they have a good affiliate program for paying affiliates, but it seems they are a hassle to deal with as far as setting up the checkout process the way u want it...

what would it take to set up my own checkout process?
if i did this how would i track what to pay affiliates?

Another good source is 2checkout. You can set your own monthly reoccuring up also. Often the hold period is usually between 7 and 14 days so they can batch your funds for you. Good luck
