Easy one. I have about 5 gmail accounts and am ready to book a few more for SEO etc.

Anyone have a clue as to a limit?

I googled and searched but nothing seemed to answer so if anyone out there has say 10 accounts in good standing do tell.

Thanks

Are you having an issue setting them up? If so, try doing it via a proxy.

      Good idea.

Also, usually when you reach some type of limit you will be asked to do a phone confirmation I believe, so I don't think you're really 'limited' in the sense of the word.

Not completely sure about this one though.

Why do you have to have gmail accounts? You could buy a domain, like georgekoschemail.com or junkmailtogeorge.com and get all the email addresses you could ever use. There are also many other free email systems that you can use as well.

Overall, I've found it best to spread things out and funnel everything into a few primary email addresses. My main one is an msn.com one that I've had since 1995.

What about opening up blogger blogs? you need gmail accounts for that, and depending on your business, you might not want that many blogger blogs tied to any 1 gmail address.

If you're just looking for more email addresses to sign up for services, just use the gmail trick below.

    email@gmail.com
    email+1@gmail.com
    email+2@gmail.com

All of those email addresses will go to the same gmail inbox (email@gmail.com). However, services like craigslist and others think they are multiple email addresses and thus you can create several accounts with the services and only have to check one email box.

It's a cool trick, but a lot of services will not accept an email address of that format.

It does work on virtually all forums though.

As does using periods in the email, like:

        hello@gmail.com
        h.ello@gmail.com
        he.llo@gmail.com
        he.l.l.o@gmail.com

it all goes to the same address.

Personally I don't see the point though. I just create catchall accounts on domains that I own, and then forward any emails coming into any email on that domain to a couple of yahoo emails of mine where I deal with all activations.

I have over 30. Never a problem. I use my real name and only one "alternate" email for all of them, (which is a gmail account too) and have never had a problem. I don't think they have a limit.

    I don't think there's a limit.

I use a Firefox Plugin (Gmail Manager) to check my messages for all of them at the same time. It beats having to sign in manually for each one. It's the best.

Thanks...Hearing for the first time. Will try later.

It automatically all falls into email@gmail.com, no need to redirect anything.

email@gmail.com and email+1@gmail.com are the same email inbox in googles eyes. (note that I literally mean add "+1, +2, +3, etc" to the end of your email when signing up for services).

If you don't care if it says Gmail.com on the end of it, buy a generic domain name, and setup the domain email to be hosted on Google, using the Google Apps service. Specify how many email addresses you want, and you're in business.

You'll still have the Google interface, and all the things you love, plus a unique domain name to work with.

It's free, it's easy, and it's definitely within their terms of service.

I've done this several times for myself, and many times for clients.

If memory serves me right, doesn't a Google Apps free account have a limit of 50 users per domain?

How do you specify the number of email addresses you want?

There isn't really a limit -- but you'll find the more you get, the more difficult gmail makes it for you to sign up. (I.e., you'll start having to enter the same captcha 3-4 times, or it would ask you to verify certain information, etc). Never got to the 100 limit, so don't know about that, but after a few, yes, they tend to start doing that.

You're good for right now. All you need to do is keep making them until they stop letting you then make one via a proxy website. Very easy.

Lately, after I registered 10 accounts or so using the phone message confirmation, they started telling me the maximum account limit was reached, given the number of messages they sent to my phone number.
So, no more activation code, no more accounts.

I think the best trick is the one about the email+1, +2, and so on.

I must say, now-a-days, you really cannot have even more than 2 accounts on gmail. Every new account needs a phone confirmation. So its better to have just one account in a good standing condition.

Do anyone have more accounts? if yes, how do you handle it with the phone confirmation part? Is it okay to have more than 1 account with the same phone number?

Unfortunately, there is a limit tied to your SMS cell phone. I'm not sure what that limit is, but I hit it for my main cell phone back in December. Gmail sends you the activation code via SMS, and unless you have extra cell phones around the house, it's not easy to get around it.

Of course, there are places that cell gmail addresses. I bought 1000 maybe 4 months ago, unfortunately they no longer sell gmail accounts I believe.

If you use the above technique, you don't have to verify the additional accounts because they all drop into the same email account. So, you only have ONE gmail account, but you can make it seem to other sites that you have many.

So to create these new +1 account, do we have to get on the sign up page for google? Or just use the number as +1 or +2.

And how many numbers we can make such accounts ?

No, you just enter "+1" after your email name (so: email+1@gmail.com) when you're signing up for whatever service that needs an email (i.e. craigslist or wordpress or back page accounts, etc)

Gmail ignores everything after the "+" symbol so it's also a good way to make sure people aren't selling your emails.

When I sign up for various lists, I often times used myemail+listname@gmail.com that way if anyone else starts emailing me at that email address, I know who sold my info.

Bottom line, everything always comes back to the original email@gmail.com address no matter what you put after the "+" symbol.

You only need to create one gmail account, then use the "+" when signing up for accounts outside of google.

I've got so many geemale accounts it's not funny...

Literally, I've lost count. We open them up with a script and p-r-o-x-i-e-s.

That being said, I just tested the +1, +2, +3 and it works like a charm!
