What Are You Planning To Get Into In 2010?

So this time of year I always start hatching goals for the upcoming year. One of them I have is to build and populate 2 membership sites I've had rattling around in the old noggin for a few months now. Never done it before. That's right... I'm a virgin.

The other thing I'm gonna do in 2010 is really dig into CPA. I've dabbled with it from time to time. I was part of Don & Jeremy's CPA Bootcamp earlier this year, and I've bought a few WSO's, but I haven't ever really focused on it like I needed to if I wanted to make it something sustainable. My ADD tends to distract me.

And I'll always put out an info product from time to time. That's my real first love in IM.

Oh, and I want to put together a Dallas Warriors get-together sometime next year. Doesn't have to just be Dallas folks, of course, but that's where I want to try to hold the event. Maybe something that involves some impromptu idea sharing, booze, some entertainment of some kind, booze, and maybe even some booze will be involved. I'll keep everyone posted.

So that's my 2010. What do you guys and gals have planned?

John

Well let's see...I'll be learning how to milk goats, teach my kids to ride horses, probably a few home improvement projects...oh wait.

You mean in IM! OHHhhhhh sorry 'bout that.

I plan on really cranking out membership sites, both IM related and others, as well as focusing on learning the ins, outs, ups and downs of CPA.

That is, when I'm not milkin' my goats. LOL

2010 will be my year to fully jump into the IM pool and it will be sink or swim. I have several infoproducts in the idea book, have started my Adsense mini-empire and have at least two membership sites in the works. I'll continue with my ghostwriting team but we're focusing our new customer acquisition efforts outside the IM arena.

2010 will be the year that I double my previous income - if not more.

I'm getting into copywriting and full time coaching.

After writing my own copy for almost 7 years, it's about time I made some
            money doing it for others.

As for the coaching, I don't expect too many students who will be able to
put up with my unforgiving approach.

Well, I'm going to go for the all-around stuff here.

Going to learn to copywrite, and learn well.

Going to get my flipping websites in order, hopefully get to the point of making 1 flip a week at least.

MAKE MY OWN DAMN PRODUCT AND SELL IT.

    Brand myself as someone cool.

Affiliate with Big Mikes wholeseller program.

CPA sounds pretty neat, I'd like to get into that at some point.

    Re-Learn my article writing speed.

And maybe set up some adsense sites.

Not to mention I'd love to take a try into the offline field of consulting, I just need to learn how to make businesses better before jumping into that.

I've got 365 days, I think its enough time, maybe.

Hey John, I'd like to make a suggestion to just have a beer truck standing by to keep the cooler replenished. BTW a good place to hold this may be the new Hilton at the Harbor in Rockwall. I'm sure they have a large enough ballroom. Plenty of other hotels right off I30 if some dont want the expense of the Hilton. Do it when its warm and you got all the entertainment you need with the boats, babes and beer as well as several excellent restaurants right there on the water. Maybe even lease out Seawolf for the day. It will hold 100 peeps or better.

Hang on while i go get another Beer..............OK I'm back.

I've been studying up on SEO for the past year or so and running through a bunch of virtual projects and studying any road blocks before running into them but ultimatley this year is a year for action. I think I finally have my blueprint laid out.

My goal is to ultimately have 100 niche websites cranking out $5 per day using a mixture of Adsense ads and affiliate marketing as my revenue.

Total overview would be to have 100 sites running on auto-pilot for a month at a time or so before they need to be touched and then selling them off for profit as they begin to tail off in traffic and renew them with a fresh site to restart the process.

I did my first "membership site" last month. And this morning, precisely 31 days later, I discover it's been compromised and there's a bunch of unauthorised access. Lesson number one of a membership site.

So here's my big goal list for 2010.

    1. Build a list. I want a five figure list by the end of 2010, and I want near-100% open rates on my emails. I want every single person on that list to go "OMG, it's an email from Caliban, I have to read it NOW."

    2. Launch a physical product. The big kind. The kind that goes THUMP on your doorstep. The kind with DVDs that you stick in a DVD player, and CDs you stick in a stereo, and real books made with real paper you hold in your hand.

    3. One million video hits on YouTube. Not necessarily on the same video, but ideally, yeah - one video, one million hits.

There's no income goal, because... well, seriously, people, I've lived in my car doing this stuff. If it was about the money, I'd have given up and gone back to work in the tech industry. I think if I just concentrate on these goals, the income will take care of itself. Honestly, it's not about the money anymore.

My day job is shifting me to part time with full benefits next year (state budget cuts) which I think will actually be a good thing, since it will give me a lot more time to work and focus on the stuff that actually makes me that weird money stuff.

Consistancy is my problem. I've made money at every single IM thing I've tried, but I've yet to turn that into some sort of consistent income, mostly due to my lack of focus.

            So...

            * Continue my article writing business, without overbooking myself and blowing deadlines. I'm a damn good writer, but I continually try to take on more than I can handle because I come up with theoretical work schedules that bear no resemblance to what I can actually do. So, no more than 60 a month.

            * Branch out into other areas like resume writing, press releases and what not.

            * Build a damn list. I do have something to offer, and a specific IM niche I want to hit. I wouldn't object to doing some list building in other areas, but first things first.

            * Launch some products. I have two that should be ready (or ready enough) in January, so I'm well on track with this one. My general strategy is to create six short feeder products to giveaway as list builder, and six longer products to actually sell.

            * Eventually, phase out the writing for other people and focus on stuff that gives me more residual income. It's not that I don't like writing for other people, but time doing that is time away from fiction work, which actually does make me some money.

            * BE CONSISTENT.

I am continuing with Adsense sites for at least the first six months of this year, only just started.

Planning on flipping some sites too, that starts in Feb.

Outsourcing for the first time very soon.

I've got quite a bit planned for new year. After spending the past 2 years mostly reading and analyzing i'm determined to earn a sustainable income,as automated as possible.
I've only made abot $100 online ever, through article writing. 2010 i'm kicking this up a notch or 10.

    short term goals:
*possibly start a blog install service. -hopefully that brings in enough cash so i can get the laptop upgraded asap.
*blog flipping-I have some domains i've been trying to sell. Wanted to try my hand at flipping for awhile now. So i'll get them up an flip them.

    Other:
*Using the blog anniliation method, build a 2 lists of 5000 members in 2 different niches.(spread risk)
*launch several info products in the 2 niches
    *Launch 2 membership sites initially.
*create a complete product funnel for both niches/lists

    *automate as much as possible
*Earn at least $15,000 by end of jan 2010.

By mid 2010 i want to be earning 5 or 6 figures. At least enough to get rid of my debt, have at least 20k in bank as savings and enough to build a house.

    Perhaps,if i'm earning enough online..start a herb farm.

I am planning to build a network of 25 -30 niche autoblogs on a multiple IP
hosting account. Those blogs will be monetized only with adsense for passive income.

Also I plan to finish my own home study course product and find a couple
of JV partners for the launch next year.

Totally reworking a few good PLR products that I acquired this year and selling
      them through CB.

Creating a ' freebie ' site for list building purposes within IM niche and adding
a few more thousands subscribers to my existing IM list.

I'm probably not be able to quit my job 2010, but I'm not even shure that I want to,
      I still like my job.

In 2010 I want to increase my online earnings by 30-50% and build more friendships
with IMers that have a list of 2000 subs or more and make more then $1000 a month.

      * give my niche info product affiliate blog an "extreme home makeover" to give it a more professional look and build a list for this niche;
      * build subscriber lists in a few very competitive niche markets;
      * expand my physical product affiliate blogs portfolio;
      * write at least 3 articles a week to submit to revenue sharing sites to improve my writing ability and for residual cash.

I currently have 1 membership program that does pretty well (full time income at least) and several physical products (books).

My main goal for 2010 is to put out more and better free content, because that is the main driver for my income.

I'll get into advertising heavily because at just about 100 unique visitors per day I'm doing pretty well financially. I think if I could increase that 10x I'd be doing REALLY well. Like the posters above I'm just a bit gun shy about ppc.

The main thing I'd like to do though is get to the point where I'm not selling anything. I'd like all of my money to come from advertising so that I can give all of my digital content away (because it's going to be harder and harder to protect it anyway, and I see MUCH higher conversion rates on physical products).

2009 was the year I got into IM.
2010 will be the year I succeed at IM and create a very nice income doing so.

I decided before Christmas that I would take a bit of an extended break to recharge the batteries, put a plan together and come back in January to throw everything I have at the new year. I've been thinking hard about my strategies and what I can offer to people in a few different niches. To put it simply, me talking like I did in the OP of this thread will be a distant memory:-

      http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...me-advice.html

Instead, during this year I will be one of the people offering help and advice to newbies and those struggling

My 2010 is starting with a 30 day challenge. My challenge is to make $1,000 between January 4th and February 4th. I will be documenting my progress in a blog, so I can keep track of my progress and review it, and also so others can follow me, give me their feedback and maybe even learn some things along the way.

Pretty soon, I'll be releasing my first WSO, which is a joint venture with a fellow Warrior. I believe it's a really good product, and the money we make from it is of secondary importance to the value we provide to our fellow Warriors

In February, I will most probably start writing a niche ebook. I want it to be a comprehensive guide that will help lots of people in this particular niche. Above all, I am going to make sure this is a quality product, and I am going to price it competitively with other products in the niche.

Although I'm going to mostly stick to the same strategies as before(i.e articles, SEO etc) I am going to go about some areas very differently. I have been constantly leaving money on the table by not building lists. I have too often thought about the money that can be made before I have thought about the help and value I can provide to people. Those days are gone. Providing help, information and value to other people is the priority now. Hopefully, the financial rewards will follow. Gone are the days of submitting a bunch of articles to EZA and forgetting about them. I will now get the most out of each and every piece of content I write. When I look back at how I haven't used my content properly in the past, it makes me cringe.

Despite being on an IM break at the moment, 2009 is ending nicely with a few sales coming in 2010 is the year I'm going to make a real difference to myself, my family's and other people's lives though. Mark my words

Thanks Ruth I was actually thinking about this earlier, and came up with a pretty simple analogy:-

In IM, what makes me unhappy?

Not helping other people and 0's in my Clickbank/Paypal/CPA accounts

In IM, what makes me happy?

Helping other people and regular payments in my Clickbank/Paypal/CPA accounts

It's up to ME to create the happiness I want

I want to be a top marketer in the 'make money online' niche.

I'm immensely proud of my achievements in other niche markets and but I want to crack this 'make money online' niche.

    Why?

Because I do genuinely enjoy helping people and trying to solve their problems. I worked for years in retail, hospitality and during my early twenties in IT Support.

    I've always helped people.

Now it's time to marshall more of my energies into helping people make a living online and take control and responsibility of their own destinies.

Any similar minded marketers want to JV with me on this rollercoaster then let me know.

    It's gonna be fun.

Offline: We'll be focused on bigger and stronger customers, and of course upselling to previous ones. We have some serious work scheduled for a big event (web/graphic/print) but we want to grab at least 3-5 new events for 2010.

Online: Another membership site to launch soon (non-IM) and the usual stuff: domain flippin, adsense sites, CPA sites, IM coaching (locally)... And the first IM seminar of my own before summer, maybe June 2010.

Oh and I will help my brother in law with MinisiteBox, he's going to take care of it next year - I simply don't have time for it. He's a very talented designer and I know he's going to take good care of you

Bottom Line: If we reach June 2010 with 2-3 new events in our schedule and the new membership site going 90%, I'll be a happy man.

I've been dabbling with IM for the year and haven't really gotten right into it. I guess I really need to stop analyzing and just go for it.

I seem to loose focus and second guessing myself. Maybe it's information overload? Someone says this and another say something different. I plan to close my mind go for what I've learned so far. Then I'll know If I can hit my target and if not tweak or change my model. Got a couple of biz models I want to try out.

I've had a few, or seven, beers and just got in. Hopefully this makes sense - if not I'll fix it sometime. :-)

I'd say about 50% of all replies here talk about wanting to get into CPA. When most people say CPA they mean one thing: re-bills. That's where the big money is made and that's where 80% of most networks income comes from.

Here's the deal. Re-bills are getting bad, they're getting sketchy, they're becoming more "unethical" and are going way over the top. The gravy train doesn't last forever, and no one wishes it would keep on chugging more then I do, but let's be real here.

Something that hasn't been talked about is what's going on behind the scenes. Many, many, many big advertisers had their merchant accounts solely through Wells Fargo. It got to a point where the complaints and customer service beat the profit so Wells got out - this, just a few days ago, made 30% of re-bills in most major networks go down.

Advertisers can move over to other banks, true. But this isn't the biggest problem.

Visa and Mastercard are working with government officials to deal with this whole re-bill thing. In a society where the free market is no longer chariest people go running to the government when times are tough, or when they get a bruise.

It is what it is and new rules will be set in place. Rules that could kill re-bills - rules that will make things a lot harder.

Due to this whole Wells Fargo thing networks are cluing in that maybe they need to screen their advertisers more. But we all know start up networks won't have the same morals and those still wanting to push the stuff that gets the highest payouts will.

Let me be very clear. No more Visa and Mastercard, no more re-bills. End of story.

These companies are all about the bottom line. Things are getting close to not making them a cost-effective profit - if this keeps up we all better hope for the best.

...In a recent address the government talked about where the real problem is: publishers. Which is total bullshi.t but whatever no one expects any government, that pays people 100,000 a year, to understand something that makes many individuals that a day.

You are a publisher. You are an affiliate. You push re-bills you, in there mind, are just as liable as the advertiser and the network. In fact you are more liable.

People need to start treating this more like a business. If you can't then please go back to e-books where you are safer because in the end you may end up like that guy who pushed bizops and didn't make a damn sale but since he used Google in his landing page got sued for $50,000 along with 400 other "joe's".

You sure as hell better have clear, visible, TOS on your site at the very least. I recently talked with a major advertiser and we both agreed on one thing and that is that we are collectively worried about the space in which we are in.

We are worried that Visa and Mastercard one day will say enough. Will their be workarounds? Yes. But will they be worth it? It`s truly hard to say.

This post was not meant to scare anybody off of CPA. I just want people to start thinking more about the big picture, about what is really happening in the space. Too often I see people here walking blind without a cane.

As for me I am diversifying out of CPA, while still expanding my CPA sites aggressively, to Clickbank.

Big things will happen there in 2010. :-)

    Zach

P.S - Remember that CPA is just a way to monetize. It seems like I write a PM a day about this. Get traffic and then decide how you want to make money from that traffic!
