I'd build a hut somewhere and live a self-sustained life, growing my own vegetables and carving wooden sculptures with my toenails.

Once I've finished doing that, I'd clean myself up a bit and pitch local businesses and sell them my design services for catalogs, business cards, leaflets etc.

Since my actual "day job" profession is a Web developer, I don't know what I would be if not for the internet but I could've been an architect or just happily bumming around with my parents forever

Hi

What a horrible thought - No Internet??

As I can't go out to work I'd probably work at home. I've done many things in my long years but the one I can do from home is to teach English to speakers of other languages (ESOL).

Otherwise, I'd sit reading in a spotless home. My house seems to gather dust while I'm at the computer :-(

Tim,

Does that mean you were there before the internet
was public? And they let you out?

Take Care,

P.S I'd still be running several offline businesses

Hmm...since I'm old enough to remember what I did before the Internet, let me think back...

I'd probably watch a lot more TV or play Xbox, wouldn't have met a lot of the cool people I know now, and would be back working in an office somewhere...*shudder*.

It took me awhile to really get into the Internet when everyone else did (I wasn't really into porn or shopping), but now I love it. I realized how much a part of my life it's become on a recent trip when I just HAD to find a wifi spot everywhere I went.

I'd be on the beach hosting a private radio show, selling ad spots for the local villagers and working on my next project.

Hi,

Before I got hooked on the Internet I was in the process of setting up networks of voice mail systems where different merchants put voice ads on their line. All of the voice mailboxes were connected.

Press 1 for Carpet cleaning, Press 2 for restaurants, press 3 etc.

The phone buttons were linked to the merchant. It was like a web.

Hey, maybe I would invent the Internet. Too bad Al Gore beat me to it.

And I would do a bunch of recreational things I don't seem to have the time for anymore, LOL.

I can't even begin to imagine where I would be without the internet. I do have a degree in Accounting and Finance, albeit a 2:2, but I spent 2 years applying unsuccessfully for jobs so I would probably be in some low-paid job somewhere.

It was back then that I started getting into betting exchanges which is where I really started making some money. Then I started investing in shares and trading forex, all of which is done online. I'm just thankful I'm living in the internet age as I now have a very comfortable lifestyle thanks to the internet.

Default What if there was no internet

It's hard to imagine life without internet. No more mails, no chatting and no access to endless information. I would just continue with my life and look for other ways to stay connected. Start going to libraries and read about the internet in history books. I think nothing can replace the internet.

Interesting topic. Before I turned to the internet to work from home, I was a securities trader in a typical 9-5 job...

If there were no internet, though, I would be a personal fitness trainer. I studied and got my personal trainer certification and membership through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) and that was going to be my way out of my corporate job. I had started to build a client base and then the internet came along and I was hooked.
