Tough Question: structure for a multi-product website

Hello warriors,

I am facing a problem here: I don't know how to structure a website where I will market a number of independent, but related, products.

It's a golf site, and I sell instructional DVDs on the different aspects of golfs: drive, bunker, pitching, putting, hitting from the rough, etc. Each DVD is independent to each other, but obviously they target the same niche: golfers.

The problem is that I don't know how to structure the site as a whole. Here's what I've decided so far:
  • I dont want to base it around the blog model because I don't want to post on a recurrent manner.
  • I want to create individual email lists for each product to better target them with future offers. So, there will have to be a mailing list for people interested in the bunker game, another one for putting, another one for pitching, etc. That means that, somehow, I need to implement different squeeze pages for each sub-niche which is a mess.
  • I want to give free content first before presenting my product offer in order to build trust in advance. That's where the targeted email lists come in place.
So the question remains: how to structure the whole thing? I know I can put targeted squeeze pages on subfolders (mysite.com/bunker , mysite.com/putting, mysite.com/drive, etc), but then what do I put in the index?

Does anyone here have experience with sites offering multiple products, and more specifically on how to structure such sites so the products are presented and listed independently on the front-end?

TIA!

    1. Create a template around golf images. (Content, top bar, right or left menu bars with .inc files)
    2. Create folders like you said.
    3. On each index page > keep product details + order link to shopping cart.
    4. On same page set up a subscription form that takes them to /subscription/index.php, where they see checkboxes to select which info they need.

  • That doesnt create individual lists on each subniche. I need those individual sub-lists so I can pre-sell them on their specific area of interest before offering the actual product.

Basically, I want to treat each product independently (independent offer, independent mailing list, independent follow up sequence), but somehow without having to create 6 different websites for each individual product.

Sure it does.... "4. On same page set up a subscription form that takes them to /subscription/index.php, where they see checkboxes to select which info they need."

If that doesn't work for you set up a separate subscription form/page for each product or product category.
