Why are you doing this?

There's reasons why people choose to get involved with IM, and being new here I'm on a bit of a mission to find out more about the great people here.

I'd love to know why you are involved in IM..

Obviously for the money and the freedom, like myself, and I'm sure there's other core reasons why you choose this path.

For me it's mainly about the freedom and security it gives me. How about you guys?

Financial freedom...being my own boss...flexible working...the list goes on but i guess if i had to say one reason it would be for financial security going forward for my and the family.

First and foremost is time freedom and peace of mind.

And making money while helping people solve their problems.

Plus the whole process of how it all works is very interesting.

Because I was a young broke Minority from the projects in New York and want to show myself that I can do whatever I want.

I don't want to be seen as someone that can only be a gangster or a drug dealer. I don't want to live in the projects and be around such negative people. I want to like the life I feel I deserve.

I owe it to my mother, as she had always told me I could do whatever I want. I want people to understand that you don't have to grow up privileged to be wealthy, because lord knows I was far from that.

I refuse to work for someone that will insult my intelligence and ridicule me. I want to work for me!

    I want to live comfortably...

I am currently doing internet marketing mainly to gather prosopects for my offline business.

I am also heavily researching the launch of a separate, side business...It's tough though because of my day work, so it will take some time.

I too am young(22), and hope to have complete financial independence with many streams of income by the time I am 25.

I love the fact that you can laser target your market (at least, you can once you figure out how lol).

I love the fact that you set your own hours and have the ability to write your own check, essentially. If you need to take a break for a few weeks, you don't have customers pounding on your door wondering where you are.

Making money from nothing is also a nice hobby of mine. I'm not that good at it yet, but it's nice when it happens.

I got laid off from a really, truly amazing job at a company that was the only place I ever really wanted to work. I simply didn't want to work anywhere else. No job there, no job anywhere. So I went back to running my own company.

Well, first, I don't wanna do a JOB! I need to be making enough money before I pass out of college. (I'm in high school. So, I've gotten some time left.)

Also, I wanna start my own record label. So, I need some capital to invest.

IM is the way to go!

        Sumit.

Well, I do it because I can't find a job to save my life. And even now, I'm not doin' so hot. I'm really rootin' for the next year to roll up soon. I have a feeling I'm going to make more money next year than the past three years combined. I just know it.

I do it for the freedom, of being able to set my own hours and be me. Its fun as hell to do as well.

    1. The freedom to work whenever I want.
    2. The freedom to work wherever I want.
    3. Being my own boss.

I've actually been my own boss for about twenty years now, long before I got into IM. Being your own boss is great, but I'm afraid I've been at it for so long now that I'm exceedingly unemployable.

For one thing, I absolutely love it. It's what I want to do. But, additionally, I am a single dad raising 4 children. This enables me to be at home for them.

I have had brick and mortar businesses that took more time away from the family than a nine to five.

I just sincerely love what I do. However, I mix it up a little. I do IM, I do development and design for IMers, and I work with brick and mortars to develop their internet presence. That's 3 seperate, but related aspects that keeps things interesting.

    Oh yes... the money's great

Internet Marketing caught my attention several years ago. After being introduced to Adwords by a friend I later stumbled across the "funded proposal" concept and my passion for learning more has never stopped.

Where does this leave Network Marketing, no doubt change must be in the wind?

Back in 1997 I quit my job as a Systems Analyst to become a private consultant. By 1999 I was able to work in both 2 offices and from my home office. I loved the flexibility it gave me, my son was 10 years old at the time and I was able to spend time with him and volunteer at his elementary school.

At that time the wireless technology we take for granted today was in its infancy, however it was obvious that it would soon allow me to be completely mobile. I had a dream of being able to do all my work with a wireless notebook from anyplace in the world.

I called this vision "Work On The Beach" - it was a metaphor as I saw "the beach" as being a place as far away from the traditional workplace as possible. At the time I lived in Edmonton Alberta and was about as far away from an actual beach as you could possibly get.

Fate dealt me an ironic twist when I accepted a consulting position in 2001 in Honolulu - here was a place where I could actually "work on the beach"! In fact the first month I was there I had a picture taken of me on Waikiki beach with my notebook and Palm Pilot - a geek on the beach!

In 2003 I started getting interested in Internet Marketing, and by 2004 I was working at it part time. In 2005 I started doing all my work on the Internet, admittedly not on the beach but I have been known to work down at the pool!

I love the freedom that working on the Internet provides. I can work my own hours, and thanks to wireless technology, my Toshiba notebook and my cool little Asus netbook (which I'm writing this on now) I can work anywhere I happen to be.

I can't imagine doing anything else. Long live IM!

    Happy Holiday everyone!

I am in IM simply because it is the best place to do what I love doing!

In following my passion, I've taken many paths, and found this one is the greatest path for doing what I have always desired to do, my passion, and the most fun path, which by the way, is another passion of mine!

I got into this because I got fed up with selling low-margin goods.
I run an offline business, selling goods (used to run two). It's an interesting business in a field I like to work in, but since everything I sell has very low margins (10% if you're lucky, as low as 1% for certain items), it's just a bad market to be in. Low margins means you're constantly receiving and spending tons of money, but hardly anything is left for you at the end of the month and the risk is huge.

So, I was on the lookout for high-margin products to sell and came across online marketing and info-products. Here it's ALL margin!

Also, I love creating content. Love writing and making videos etc. So, I'm really happy doing this IM stuff.

I'm doing it because I love continuously learning and testing
something new. I'm a kind of a mad experimentator by nature
and this field offers countless challenges. I love doing it 'my way',
developing my plans, strategies and tactics and seeing results
in terms of traffic, subscribers and sales.

I have a high-paying job that I don't hate and by doing this IM thing
in my spare time I make even more money. Once you discover
that it works, that you can make good money working on your IM
projects 1-2 hours a day, then you also think it's fun! It really is fun.
You set up a site, do some secret magic, and then people come and
buy your stuff. Then you send them an email and they buy again .

The first reason is that I love to write (my background is in writing/journalism) and so creating all of this written content is not a hassle for me, I actually enjoy it...and besides the money and the freedom, I find that IM is intellectually and creatively satisfying. There's always cool new stuff to learn. It's also a field where the more you put into it, the more money you stand to make. I don't think I could ever return to a 9-to-5 job where no matter how hard you work, and no matter how creative your ideas, you are basically "capped" at the amount of money you take home every two weeks...

  • For me, it's truly my passion. I have been in the business for over 10 years and think about internet marketing night and day. It's a way of life, not a profession.

I created my company years ago because I wanted to provide innovative, research-driven marketing knowledge to clients (previous and potential). I love this stuff, it keeps me going.

Evidently I have epilepsy... I had a few issues as a newborn but no other issues my entire childhood. Then I had a minor car accident last year (at age 25) when I went into a seizure behind the wheel. No worries, I didn't hurt anybody or even my car really... just drove off the side of the road into an open field. Anyway, the DMV took my license for a year and I was stuck at home while the doctors found a good medicine combo.

I believe in blooming where you are planted Couldn't be happier here And believe me, my puppy is all about me being home all day!

I am 19 I have a family, a high school diploma and work in a restraunt at minum wage... My goal is to quit my J-O-B by my daughters 1st birthday which is in April. I will then be set as I can spend most of my time earning without being away from my family 80+ hours a week. Plus, I enjoy creating websites and things like that. It is a hobby of mine. I only recently got serious about it about 8 months ago.

I think you will find that just about everyone that is involved with internet marketing will have very much the same reasons for doing it. But yes once again financial freedom, and time to spend with family because your family should always come first.

Before I got online, I was a struggling musician (a.k.a. "wannabe rockstar") and always had extremely monotonous jobs to pay the bills. It took a toll on me mentally and I also had a bit of a chip on my shoulder when it came to any kind of authority (young + rock music = rebellion).

I was always creative and willing to study/learn, but quit high school early to play in a band. I later went to University as a mature student, but that was short-lived as well, as I felt like the real reason I enrolled was because I had no idea what the Hell I wanted to do. lol

In 1997-98, the band thing eventually wore off and I literally just "decided" to buy a computer in order to find ways to make a few bucks online. I learned as much as I could, as fast as I could, and I started buying/selling collectibles on newsgroups (this was back in the day! lol) and eventually ended up with a decent eBay business.

I taught myself a bit of HTML/design so I could also have my own website to sell the collectibles, and after discovering I had a bit of a passion for creating sites/graphics, I started working as a freelance designer, in addition to eBay.

After creating a portfolio, I was hired by a few adult companies (which paid a LOT better than the mom and pop shops I had previously been working for. lol ). Two clients I had were paying me to build adult affiliate sites for them. They both gave me a ton of work and once I realized how they were making $$, I started my own affiliate sites. To make a long story short, I had several adult sites for a few years after that and stopped selling on eBay.

That was cool for a while, but then in 2007, my baby girl was born and I no longer wanted to deal with adult sites. (it wasn't remotely rewarding anyway and I was kinda bored lol).

So, I sold all my sites to one company and started spending some time on the Warrior Forum - mostly browsing though. lol

I took some time to "browse mainstream IM" to see what interests me, and now I mostly flip sites and build niche sites to keep. Sometimes I'm working twice as hard for half the income I had with adult, but I'm happier and I feel good about what I do.

...and that's why I do this.

I just realized that my post is about 65 times longer than everyone else's. Sorry about that. lol

    Cheers!
    Jay
