Alternatives to Google Analytics (Realtime!)

I was checking out several options for realtime web stats since it always bugs me that Analytics is one day behind.

I found:

Clicky
Woopra
Piwik

Piwik is the only one which is free (its OpenSource and you install it on your server) and the others charge a monthly fee and are hosted. But they have options for free sign-ups if you only monitor ONE site with limited page-views. Right now i am checking out Clicky because it seems that overall it has the most features - and i REALLY like it. Its way more "intuitive" than Analytics..i see basically in real time who's on, where they come from..etc..etc.. check it out:

Clicky
Clicky (with my affiliate link in it )

Why cant analytics have such a nice and clear interface and real time stats?

Has anyone already tested piwik? Didnt have time to take a look at it yet.

    Hi George,

    Happy New Year Man

There's also StatCounter which I use (though I haven't tested if it gives realtime results)
Those who have cpanel in their hosting also have awstats..

    All the best,

    Omar

I also used to use statcounter to avoid using Google and so not let Google have so much info in all their DBs.

Statcounter was and is nice but I admit Google Analytics is more advanced and has more marketing info that can be exploited quickly.

If you're looking for open-source s/w to be installed on the web-server (it's a bit different from the web stats like statcounter and Google Analytics), why not just use the 2 most popular stat s/w called "Awstats" and "Webalizer"? They're normally provided free with your web hosting account.

You go on their website, its really simple.

And then you just put that tracking code on your site. For wordpress there is even a clicky plugin where you simply enter your siteID/key. And it also works together with analytics.

You then login on their site and there is all your stats in real time.

If you have any ???'s about Woopra just ask them here. I really like it, but I'll answer with an honest, non-biased commentary.

Maybe with a screenshot or two,

    wow...here something SUPER interesting:

I would have never thought that people STILL use such tiny screen resolutions! As said i only testing this on one site right now...and i so have to change my design so it looks good on 1024 resolution. I think many of my sites are way too wide/big..darn.. this explains i have better conversions on simple (tiny sites) as opposed to my WP blogs which are wider.

Check this one - a few people are still on 800 x 600!

      Browser Display Statistics

It also depends on your user demographic. People in wealthier countries / people who do graphics are more likely to have bigger screens.

Also, what about mobile users? Might be worth considering a mobile version as this demog is set to grow and grow...

I don't think there's nothing near as useful as AWStats or Urchin. You could try phpMyVisits but you'll need to include a .js on every file.

          Thanks for the info OP.

I'm totally looking for something like for my new project (i want to be out of Google and stop giving Google all my information) - generating revenue without the need of google, seo, backlinks.

          Regards,
          Darren

Mint, haveamint.com is one more real-time stat alternative for Google Analytics.

I personally love Piwik. Having my stats counter installed on the same server as my domains makes it quick, rather than having to rely on an outside service. It's up to date and the dashboard is very configurable. While I do use Google Analytics (the more ways they know I exist the better ) I don't depend on it for stats.

    I highly recommend Piwik.
