Ezine Articles is having an update and I like it =D

Hey guys.

You may or may not have noticed yet but EzineArticles Submission - Submit Your Best Quality Original Articles For Massive Exposure, Ezine Publishers Get 25 Free Article Reprints is having an update.

If you check out your user account you will find a new tab titled social media which allows you to add your social media profiles for the following sites;

Twitter
FaceBook
Myspace
LinkedIN
Friendfeed
Youtube

You may be wondering what the point of that is, well if you go and view an article then you will notice the structure surrounding the article has also changed.

Above the article there is now the view count, comment count and word count boxed nice and neatly.

Below the article there is now 6 social media image icons (nice and big) as well as other options to rate the article, send to friend e.t.c

It seems ezine articles is beginning to try and expand its lengths for users to be able to maximise traffic through social media whilst obviously benefiting ezine articles themselves extremely.

Overall I am really pleased with the updates it will hopefully improve traffic and make me more money =D

What are your thoughts?

P.S It seems its still currently being updated so lets see what else they have in store for us.

Well considering the topic is relevant to ezine articles why mention it...why do people have to be confusing.

I see, you run your own AD. A bias opinion but perhaps not an incorrect one.

Not being confusing just pointing out the obvious that this is nothing new as other sites have been doing this for many months.. It's not everybody's fault that EZA is behind the times ..

The fact is more and more links on that article page is more and more chances for actual customers to go someplace else and lose the attention that you once had held over them...

Those article pages are so full of links now it would confuse a normal consumer... A confused consumer is not a good thing but a bad thing.. The bad part is all those links do not lead back to you as the author either..

Many say they make huge sales and etc from EZA, ok fine good for you ... How many more sales would you make if those articles did not have all those links and adsense blocks on them ????

I say this based on many years of site development and testing.. Has nothing to do with being bias as a Article Directory owner. To each his/her own but I was just pointing out the obvious ..

I totally agree with James here, and although these new changes may benefit some of the top authors who may be looking to build a crowd and followers etc. For most of us (marketers) it will just be another way to loose the traffic we may be aiming for, and further decrease the effectiveness of article marketing for traffic generation... NOT SO GOOD

Yes I agree with you, the page is confusing there are too many links, but like with many/most businesses they are going to try and monetize ever inch of space they can get or at least maximise this to make more money and to increase profits.

I do believe that the article page is at a maximum and if any more links are placed on the page then I will be off. The social media links I believe are beneficial in most circumstances as they will help to increase traffic yet I understand thats it is just another enticement to go away from the page, perhaps they could make them open in a new browser.

I suppose it was not confusing, just didn't see the point in pointing out the obvious. We all know about social media buttons, but since a lot of people use ezine articles its worth mentioning.

Anyways, thanks for explaining your self and I agree with your views, good luck with your AD

If Ezine weren't an Adsense farm would they be able to pay their editors and keep the high standards that make them a google favorite?

There's probably a reason why an Ezine article is usually the first article you see for a keyword.

That being said, CTR is worse for me with Ezine than Articlesbase, so James has a good point. They are a little to good at being an adsense farm.

Thanks for seeing the point .. As far as monetizing the site, yes I can see that but I think in the position EZA is in it would be highly more beneficial to the site and the authors to go to a full paid model and no ads..

In the next year you are going to see many more article directories go out of business due to the fact that all they are is an adsense farm. Some are seriously worse that others with the ads... All those ads are not helping content providers (authors) one bit and when many good authors see that they will leave and go elsewhere...

This leaves those article directories with nothing but junk articles. Junk content and junk articles will pull these sites down and when that happens they will try to email all authors to squeeze money out of their "list" of authors. When they do that many more authors will drop, thus making the site even more useless.. See where this is going ???

Things are changing and changing fast... The "old" article directory methods are not going to be as useful as they once was.

@ - JackPowers Simple remove the ads and be 100% ad free and become a paid model only ...

              James

I have an Ezines account and like anything (even twitter) it has it's uses. I think a little more of it than James, I dare say. I also have an article Productions account and have been nothing short of impressed with it from day one.

in my own humble newbie opinion, having an AP account can multiply the usefulness of almost anything you could do with an article anywhere else. Including making podcasts and videos of them. I don't spend money willy nilly, because before deciding to try IM (due to being unable to work much after a car accident) I made a sizable income and though had been saving the mazimum allowed by law in a 401, stupidly lived up to my income level so that my monthly nut is a good 5 figures. That tends to wipe out the retirement pretty quickly and I have to be very care full what I spend and the ROI attached to it. The ROI attached to AP could very well save me from living under a bridge someday soon. Finding that will perhaps be my salvation. No disrespect intended, but if it came down to war room membership and AP membership (which due to Allen's generosity, it would never come down to) I'd think have to stick with the AP membership. But that is just me.

When I 1st got into this possibility of making a living on line, I remember seeing those Rich Jerk Videos and thinking I'd never buy anything from that guy. Only goes to prove, you cannot judge a book by it's cover, or a movie by it's trailer. Lol.

Willyboy, James runs a competing article directory. When the subject of EZA comes up, his favorite expression becomes "adsense farm"...

Can't say he's wrong in that, though I've never had a problem with EZA. Maybe because my whole business doesn't depend on them...

It depends on how you're using EZA. If you're using them for traffic directly from EZA, then perhaps the ads and other things do distract. However, if you're expecting traffic from other sources where your article gets re-published over and over, then you'll get better results.

EZA is most certainly an AdSense farm but it's an authority domain where you can post your content. Give and take.

EZA is smart to do this and I think they're going to be seeing a little benefit from it. The only thing that concerns me is...why didn't they do it eariler than this. Are they dropping in rank and popularity and now trying to make up for that with Social BMing? Hm.....

Is there an example up of the new layout? EZA is great for SEO / has to make a killing in AdSense clicks but I wouldn't say it's social media friendly in the least bit right now.

Just wondering after reading all the comments, whether ezine has or has ever thought about making premium members articles be viewed without adsense adverts...this would REALLY entice more people to become premium paid members...
