Hello, I have been using https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal (the google tool) I type in a keyword I am trying to rank for. I will then see the Local Search Volume: November and Global Monthly Search Volume. I have heard that you take either one of these local search or global and divide it by 30 to give you the daily searches for this keyword a day. Does this sound right? |

Yes, at least as far as I know. The more daily searches with less competition the better, you may very well get 1,000,000 people searching for widgets though but no competition, there may be a reason for this ![]() Or it may very well be that there are 100,000,000 people with bidgets but not a single one of them is doing what you plan on doing with them. I think the adwords thing is good but purely as a guide, not an absolute guideline. |

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. It seems to be more of a guideline. I have top listings and don't get nearly what I am supposed too. I have heard some the visits are actually Google bots and stuff too.

An effective way I learned... on that same page click on the link that says search-based keyword tool, then at the bottom of the next page it will have a link for top keywords among all categories ...go into this to target your niche, get some good keywords and then type them into the box in the original page which will give you very specific keywords that are easier to rank for. Hope this helps. |
