How important is this?

Is the 'Search Volume Trends' measurement in Google keywords a deal breaker?

I found a keyword phrase with 9, 900 local monthly searches (exact) and 9,750 competition. BUT, the 'Search Volume Trends' graph for this keyword is pretty low.

What does this REALLY mean? Does it have a real impact?

Any thoughts?

Thanks all!

Your keyword might have highs and lows, but keep in mind the local monthly search is an approximate average number of search queries matching each keyword for the last month.

I don't let low 'Search Volume Trends' rule out going after a certain keyword. Good in-depth keyword research better tells me if a keyword is a good one or not.

To get a better idea if your keyword(s) are decent take a look at the 'global monthly search volume', this gives an average of the monthly search over a 12 month period. If this number is high, then this means this keyword(s) gets a good number of search overall. Also do some research in google on your keyword. Are others promoting products? Is there money to be made? Another thing to look at is the Estimated CPC, are people bidding on your keyword(s), if so you might have a good keyword(s).

    Hope this helps....

I just have the same viewpoint. You'd better consider more on global search volume. It's more authoritative than local volume.

If the volume trend is pretty low, then it means that it came and went with the season.

This means that it was popular at some point and not anymore.
